What is Duofilm?

Duofilm is a topical solution used to treat warts and verrucas. It contains two active ingredients, salicylic acid and lactic acid, which work together to remove these skin growths. Duofilm comes in a small bottle with a brush applicator, making it easy to apply directly to the affected area.

What is Duofilm used for?

Duofilm treats common warts and verrucas. Warts are small, rough skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Verrucas, also known as plantar warts, appear on the soles of the feet and can be painful. Duofilm helps to soften and remove these growths over time.

In addition to warts and verrucas, doctors may recommend Duofilm for other skin conditions that involve thickened or hardened skin, although this is less common.

How does Duofilm work?

Duofilm works by breaking down the structure of the wart or verruca. Salicylic acid softens the hard outer layer of the skin, making it easier to remove. Lactic acid helps to break down the skin cells that make up the wart or verruca. Together, these acids gradually peel away the affected skin, allowing healthy skin to replace it.

Who is Duofilm suitable for?

Duofilm is suitable for adults and children over the age of 2. However, it may not be suitable for everyone. Do not use Duofilm if you are allergic to salicylic acid, lactic acid, or any other ingredients in the product. Avoid using Duofilm on moles, birthmarks, or unusual warts with hair growing from them. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using Duofilm.

How to apply Duofilm

  1. Wash the affected area with soap and water, then dry thoroughly.
  2. Soak the wart or verruca in warm water for about 5 minutes to soften it.
  3. Gently rub the wart or verruca with a pumice stone or emery board to remove the top layer of skin.
  4. Apply a thin layer of Duofilm directly to the wart or verruca using the brush applicator.
  5. Allow the solution to dry completely.
  6. Cover the treated area with a plaster or bandage if necessary.

Apply Duofilm once daily, preferably at bedtime. Continue using Duofilm until the wart or verruca disappears, which may take several weeks. If there is no improvement after 12 weeks, consult your doctor.
