What is Azyter Eye Drops?

Azyter Eye Drops is a prescription medication used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. It contains the active ingredient azithromycin, which is an antibiotic that helps to eliminate bacteria causing the infection.

What are Azyter Eye Drops used for?

Azyter Eye Drops are primarily used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye. This medication helps to reduce the symptoms of eye infections such as redness, swelling, and discharge. It may also be used to treat other bacterial eye infections as determined by a doctor or pharmacist.

How do Azyter Eye Drops work?

Azyter Eye Drops contain azithromycin, which belongs to a class of antibiotics known as macrolides. Azithromycin works by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. By blocking these proteins, azithromycin effectively stops the growth and multiplication of bacteria, thereby treating the infection and alleviating symptoms.

Who are Azyter Eye Drops suitable for?

Azyter Eye Drops are suitable for adults and children who have been diagnosed with bacterial eye infections. However, it may not be suitable for individuals who are allergic to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics. It is also not recommended for use in individuals with certain medical conditions or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How to apply Azyter Eye Drops

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the eye drops.
  • Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  • Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze one drop into the pocket.
  • Close your eye and gently press on the inner corner for about one minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.
  • Repeat the process for the other eye if instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Wash your hands again after applying the eye drops.

Azyter Eye Drops are typically applied twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, for three days. Follow your doctor or pharmacist’s instructions for the exact dosage and duration of treatment.
