Imigran Nasal Spray is a medication used to treat migraines. It contains the active ingredient sumatriptan, a type of medicine known as a serotonin (or 5HT) agonist, commonly known as a ‘triptan’. It is a painkiller specifically used to relieve migraine attacks.
Imigran Nasal Spray is primarily used for the treatment of migraines. Migraines are common, affecting about one in four women and one in 12 men in the UK. Imigran Nasal Spray works by stimulating serotonin receptors in the brain, which helps to reduce the symptoms of migraines.
Imigran Nasal Spray works by stimulating receptors called serotonin (or 5HT) receptors that are found in the brain, causing the blood vessels in the brain to contract. The narrowing of the blood vessels in the brain is the main cause of the pain associated with migraines.
Imigran Nasal Spray is suitable for adults aged 18 to 65 who suffer from migraines. It is not suitable for people with certain conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, and uncontrolled high blood pressure. It is also not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical advice.
Use Imigran Nasal Spray as soon as you notice the onset of a migraine. If your symptoms start to come back, you can use a second spray after two hours. Do not use more than two sprays in 24 hours.
Continue to use Imigran Nasal Spray for as long as your doctor or pharmacist recommends.
