What are Optrex Infected Eye Drops?

Optrex Infected Eye Drops are a type of antibiotic eye drop used to treat bacterial infections in the eye. These drops contain the active ingredient chloramphenicol, which helps to eliminate bacteria causing the infection. The drops come in a convenient 10 ml bottle, making them easy to carry and use as needed.

What are Optrex Infected Eye Drops used for?

Optrex Infected Eye Drops treat bacterial eye infections, such as conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, causes redness, swelling, and discharge in the eyes. These drops help to reduce these symptoms by targeting and killing the bacteria responsible for the infection. In some cases, doctors may recommend these drops for other bacterial eye infections.

How do Optrex Infected Eye Drops work?

Optrex Infected Eye Drops contain chloramphenicol, an antibiotic that works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Chloramphenicol interferes with the bacteria’s ability to produce proteins necessary for their growth and reproduction. By stopping the bacteria from multiplying, the drops help to clear the infection and reduce symptoms like redness, swelling, and discharge.

Who are Optrex Infected Eye Drops suitable for?

Optrex Infected Eye Drops are suitable for adults and children over the age of 2 years who have bacterial eye infections. However, these drops may not be suitable for everyone. People who should avoid using these drops include:

  • Individuals allergic to chloramphenicol or any other ingredients in the drops
  • People with a history of blood disorders
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless advised by a doctor
  • Individuals using other eye medications, unless advised by a doctor

How to use/apply Optrex Infected Eye Drops

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before using the drops.
  • Shake the bottle gently.
  • Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  • Hold the bottle upside down and squeeze one drop into the pocket.
  • Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner for a minute to prevent the drop from draining away.
  • Repeat for the other eye if needed.
  • Replace the cap on the bottle immediately after use.

Use Optrex Infected Eye Drops every 2 hours for the first 48 hours. After that, use them every 4 hours until the infection clears. Do not use the drops for more than 5 days without consulting a doctor.

Most people see improvement within a few days. However, you should continue using the drops for the full course of treatment to ensure the infection clears completely.
