Uses for Voltarol 1.16% Pain Relief Gel

Voltarol Emulgel is a gel used to relieve muscle, tendon and joint pain and swelling caused by:

• Sprains and strains
• Bruises
• Backache
• Osteoarthritis

How does Voltarol Emulgel work for aches and pains?

Voltarol Emulgel is a topical gel containing diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It targets muscles and joints, reducing pain and inflammation at the source. By decreasing the chemicals responsible for swelling and discomfort, it provides effective relief directly where it’s needed.

Who can use Voltarol Emulgel?

Voltarol Emulgel is suitable for adults and children aged 14 and older. At Click2Pharmacy, we can only sell this product to adults over 18.

It’s not suitable if:

• you’re in the last 3 months of pregnancy.
• you’re allergic to diclofenac, other NSAIDs like aspirin, or any of the ingredients in the gel.
• your skin is broken, infected, or has a rash.

If you have a history of ulcers or are currently pregnant, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

How to Appy Voltarol Emulgel for Effective Relief

1. Wash your hands before applying the gel.
2. Clean and dry the affected area.
3. Apply a small amount of gel (about the size of a 1-2p coin) to the area.
4. Rub the gel gently into your skin.
5. Wash your hands after applying unless you’re treating your hands.

You can apply Voltarol Emulgel three to four times a day, leaving at least four hours between applications. Do not use more than four times in any 24-hour period.

Avoid using Voltarol Emulgel for more than 2 weeks to treat muscle or joint injuries or tendonitis. If you’re using the gel for arthritis, your doctor may recommend regular reviews to monitor your treatment.

Voltarol Emulgel Side Effects

Like all medicines, Voltarol Emulgel can cause side effects:

Common Side Effects

• Skin rash
• Redness
• Itching

Uncommon Side Effects

• Dermatitis
• Dry skin

Serious Side Effects

• Severe allergic reactions, like swelling of the face, lips, or throat
• Difficulty breathing

If you experience breathing difficulties or an allergic reaction, stop using the gel and seek medical advice immediately.

Voltarol Emulgel Ingredients

Active ingredients: diclofenac diethylammonium 1.16% w/w

Inactive ingredients: diethylamine carbomers, macrogol cetostearyl ether, cocoyl caprylocaprate, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, perfume creme 45 (contains benzyl benzoate), purified water.

Voltarol Emulgel Warnings

• Do not use Voltarol Emulgel on broken or damaged skin.
• Avoid sun exposure on treated areas.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use in the last 3 months of pregnancy. Only use in the first 6 months of pregnancy or during breastfeeding under a doctor’s or pharmacist’s guidance.
• If you have asthma, you should be cautious when using Voltarol Emulgel. Some people with asthma may experience allergic reactions to diclofenac or other NSAIDs, which can worsen asthma symptoms, such as wheezing or shortness of breath.
• Do not smoke or go near naked flames when using this product, as it is a serious fire hazard, and there is a risk of severe burns. Clothing and bedding that come into contact with the gel can catch fire easily. Washing clothing and bedding may reduce the concentration of diclofenac, but it will not completely eliminate the residue.
