Tetralysal 300 is a prescription-only oral antibiotic used to treat moderate to severe acne. Tetralysal belongs to a group of medicines called tetracyclines and can also be used to treat other infections. The generic (unbranded) version of Tetralysal is Lymecycline 408mg. You can also use this medicine when acne is present on larger areas, such as the back and chest.
Tetracycline acne medicine contains the active ingredient Lymecycline. The bacteria commonly associated with acne (Propionibacterium) feeds on excess sebum and causes the skin to become inflamed and produce whiteheads, blackheads, cysts, and pustules. Lymecycline attacks the bacteria, preventing growth, which reduces skin inflammation and acne spots.
Tetralysal 300mg is suitable for adults and children 12 years and older.

Swallow one capsule daily with a full glass of water, preferably in the morning
Tetralysal 300 acne medicine should be taken for a minimum of 8 weeks. Antibiotics for acne typically take some time to work, so after 8 weeks, you can see if there is an improvement in your skin. You can take the capsules for up to 3 months.

If you experience any severe side effects, such as swelling in the face or throat, difficulty breathing, skin lesion, or severe headaches, you must stop taking this medicine immediately and seek medical help. Keep out of the SIGHT and REACH of children
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you CANNOT use Tetralysal 300 for acne. It can be passed into the placenta and the mother’s milk. If you are trying to get pregnant, please speak to your doctor about taking this medicine.
Tetralysal must NOT be given to children under the age of 8, as it can lead to tooth discolouration.
If you are taking another type of acne medication called oral retinoids, you cannot take Tetralysal tablets at the same time.

Tetralysal acne treatment are oral antibiotics used to treat all types of bacterial infections. This includes Propionibacterium- the bacteria that causes acne. Tetralysal capsules are the same as Lymecycline 408mg capsules- the only difference is that Tetralysal is a brand name. Typically, antibiotics are taken when acne is severe or when other topical treatments alone have failed.
If you have acne on larger areas such as the shoulders, back and chest, then takin an antibiotic pill is more convenient than applying creams and gels. The key ingredient Lymecycline is responsible for directly attacking the acne-causing bacteria, leading to fewer spots and clearer skin.
You will need to give the capsules a chance to work; it can take around 8 weeks before you see any difference. We also recommend that you pair up Tetralysal/Lymecycline with a topical acne medicine that contains benzoyl peroxide (Epiduo gel and Acnecide gel) or azelaic acid (Skinoren and Finacea gel).

Antibiotics such as Tetralysal can be prescribed for rosacea, as some symptoms such as redness and pimples are similar to acne. You will need to speak with your doctor about using Tetralysal for rosacea.
