How does Canesbalance work?

Canesbalance is a clinically proven bacterial vaginosis treatment that uses a triple benefit formula combining a postbiotic (lactic acid) and a prebiotic (glycogen) to restore vaginal health.

Lactic acid restores your vaginal pH levels to their normal acidic level. When you have a BV infection, the pH becomes less acidic, allowing harmful bacteria to multiply. By restoring pH to normal, lactic acid effectively relieves the unpleasant odour that’s often the most bothersome symptom of BV.

Glycogen acts as food for the good bacteria (lactobacilli) that naturally live in your vagina. By feeding and supporting these beneficial bacteria, it helps them multiply and restore the natural environment of your vaginal flora.

Together, these ingredients balance your vaginal pH levels, restrict the growth of bad bacteria, and actively support good bacteria. Canesbalance starts to work immediately to relieve symptoms, and the 7-day treatment course gives your vaginal environment time to rebalance properly.

What is Canesbalance used for?

Canesbalance is used to treat bacterial vaginosis (BV), a common vaginal infection caused by an imbalance of bacteria in the vagina. This bacterial vaginosis treatment effectively relieves unpleasant odour and abnormal discharge, along with other uncomfortable symptoms of BV infection, including:

• Unusual greyish-white or watery discharge
• Vaginal discomfort or irritation
• Symptoms that worsen after sex or during your period

BV is not a sexually transmitted infection and isn’t caused by poor hygiene. It happens when the natural balance of bacteria in your vagina is disrupted, allowing harmful bacteria to outnumber the good bacteria. This can happen for various reasons, including:

• Hormonal changes
• Using scented products in your intimate area
• Over-washing
• Changes in your normal routine

Who can use Canesbalance?

Canesbalance is suitable for adults who are experiencing symptoms of bacterial vaginosis.

However, you should speak to your doctor before using Canesbalance if you:

How to Use Canesbalance

Canesbalance comes in a pack of 7 single-use tubes. Use one applicator daily for 7 consecutive days to complete the treatment course.

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after use.
2. Remove one applicator tube from the pack. Twist off the end tab to open the tube.
3. Sit or lie in a comfortable position. You may find it easier to lie on your back with your knees bent.
4. Gently insert the neck of the applicator into your vagina as far as it will comfortably go.
5. Squeeze firmly to release all of the gel inside your vagina.
6. Remove the applicator while still squeezing to prevent the gel from being drawn back out.
7. Dispose of the empty applicator in your household waste. Do not flush it down the toilet.

For best results, apply Canesbalance before bed. Lying down helps the gel stay in place and work more effectively. You may experience some leakage, so you might want to use a panty liner to protect your clothing and bedding.

Continue using Canesbalance for the full 7 days, even if your symptoms improve before the treatment is finished. Completing the full course helps prevent symptoms from returning.

Side Effects of Canesbalance

Like all medicines, Canesbalance can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Most side effects are mild and will settle down on their own.

Common Side Effects

• Mild vaginal irritation or discomfort
• Increased vaginal discharge (this may be the product leaking out)
• Itching or burning sensation

Canesbalance Warnings

• Do not use Canesbalance if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• Speak to your doctor before using if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 years of age.
• If this is the first time you’ve experienced symptoms of BV, see your doctor for a proper diagnosis before using Canesbalance.
• You can continue to have sex while using Canesbalance, but be aware that the gel may reduce the effectiveness of latex condoms and diaphragms. Use alternative contraception during treatment and for 5 days afterwards.
• If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as normal. Don’t use two tubes at once to make up for a missed dose.
• Store Canesbalance below 25°C and keep it out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
