Scheriproct ointment and Scheriproct suppositories are used to treat haemorrhoids, and associated pain, itching, and swelling. In some cases, healthcare professionals may also recommend them for other conditions, like anal fissures, proctitis or post-surgical or post-procedural discomfort that would benefit from anti-inflammatories and pain relief.
Both products contain two active ingredients that help reduce soreness, but they have different strengths and application methods. Scheriproct ointment can be used externally around the anus and can also be inserted into the rectum for both external and internal haemorrhoids. Scheriproct suppositories are inserted directly into the rectum to treat internal haemorrhoids and reduce inflammation inside the back passage.
Scheriproct ointment and suppositories contain the active ingredients prednisolone and cinchocaine. Prednisolone, a corticosteroid, reduces inflammation, making the back passage and surrounding skin more comfortable. Cinchocaine relieves pain and itching by numbing the affected area. Together, these ingredients help restore comfort and ease the haemorrhoid symptoms.
Scheriproct ointment and suppositories are suitable for adults experiencing haemorrhoid symptoms. However, they aren’t suitable if you:
If you’re unsure whether you can use this medication, read the patient information leaflet or speak with your doctor or a pharmacist.
For effective treatment, apply twice a day for up to 7 days.
If you use the applicator, clean it with a paper towel after use. Make sure you remove any remaining product from the applicator with a cotton bud. Then rinse under warm water for 1 minute and dry with a paper towel.
The usual course of treatment is one suppository per day, to be inserted after a bowel movement. However, if you are in severe pain, you can use one suppository 2-3 times per day at the start of the treatment.
If symptoms continue after a week of use, speak to a doctor or one of our UK-licensed pharmacists at our online haemorrhoids treatment clinic.
Scheriproct ointment and suppositories provide effective relief from haemorrhoid symptoms but may cause side effects in some users, including:
Please refer to the patient information leaflet for a complete list of side effects. If any side effects from using this ointment are severe or concerning, you should seek immediate medical attention.

Scheriproct Ointment and Scheriproct suppositories are available to buy online from our haemorrhoid treatment clinic. After a free consultation and approval by a licensed pharmacist, your prescription will be shipped to you with discreet packaging options available.
Scheriproct ointment or suppositories relieve haemorrhoid symptoms, such as pain, itching, and swelling. However, they do not get rid of haemorrhoids completely.
To prevent haemorrhoids from coming back and to get long-term relief, you should increase your fibre intake, make sure you are drinking plenty of water, and avoid prolonged straining.
Do not use Scheriproct ointment or suppositories if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy. If you’re pregnant, think you may be pregnant, plan on getting pregnant, or are breastfeeding, please let one of our pharmacists know during your consultation. While it is necessary to manage haemorrhoid symptoms during these periods, safety for you and your baby is essential.
Many users feel relief from symptoms within a few days of use. However, the response time can vary depending on the severity of the symptoms and the individual. If there’s no improvement after 7 days, you should speak to a doctor or licenced pharmacist at our online haemorrhoid clinic for more advice.
Certain lifestyle changes can enhance the effectiveness of Scheriproct Ointment and reduce the recurrence of haemorrhoids. These include maintaining a high-fiber diet, staying hydrated, exercising regularly, and avoiding sitting for long periods.
Do not use Scheriproct ointment or suppositories with Anusol Cream or Germoloid Cream without medical advice, as they contain similar steroids (anti-inflammatory) and local anaesthetics (pain relief). Using them together may increase the risk of unwanted side effects like skin thinning, delayed healing, irritation, or excessive numbing.Â
If piles symptoms persist, consult a doctor or pharmacist rather than mixing treatments. For extra soothing, a non-medicated barrier cream like petroleum jelly may be a safer alternative.
Scheriproct is a well-known treatment for piles, offering fast-acting relief from pain, itching, and swelling. Its unique formulation, combining prednisolone and cinchocaine, is designed to address inflammation and discomfort.
