Uniroid HC Ointment provides short-term relief from pain, irritation, and itching caused by haemorrhoids and piles. It can be used for both internal and external haemorrhoids, offering relief from discomfort when sitting, moving, or having a bowel movement. It may also help soothe soreness and reduce itching in the affected area.
Uniroid-HC Ointment is a dual-action ointment, containing two active ingredients. Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and irritation around the anus and rectum. Cinchocaine hydrochloride is a local anaesthetic to numb the area and relieve pain and itching.
Uniroid HC Ointment is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age. However, at Click2Pharmacy, we can only prescribe it to adults over the age of 18.
Do not use Uniroid Ointment if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, have tuberculosis, or have any skin infections (such as thrush) in the affected area.
Apply Uniroid HC Ointment twice daily (morning and evening) and after every bowel movement unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Do not use the ointment for more than 7 days. If your symptoms do not improve after this time, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not apply a dressing after using this ointment, as it can increase the risk of an allergic reaction.
Like all medicines, Uniroid-HC Ointment may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
If you experience severe side effects, such as allergic reactions or visual disturbances, stop using Uniroid-HC Ointment and call NHS 111 or go to A&E immediately. Please read the Patient Information Leaflet for a full list of side effects.
If you experience any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist, even if they are not listed here. You can also report side effects directly through the Yellow Card Scheme. Reporting helps to improve the understanding of this medication’s safety.

Uniroid HC Ointment is a treatment for internal and external piles. Its active ingredient is cinchocaine, a local anaesthetic that may help relieve pain from fissures, especially when emptying the bowels.
You should only use Uniroid HC to relieve pain from fissures under the direction of your pharmacist or doctor, as there may be more effective treatments available for your symptoms.
Uniroid HC and Anusol HC Ointment are similar but not exactly the same. Both are hydrocortisone ointments designed to relieve haemorrhoid symptoms.
Uniroid HC Ointment contains two active ingredients: hydrocortisone and cinchocaine. The hydrocortisone helps reduce inflammation, while the cinchocaine acts as a local anaesthetic to relieve pain.
Anusol HC Ointment contains two active ingredients: hydrocortisone and zinc oxide.
It’s best to ask your doctor or pharmacist which ointment is right for you.
Uniroid HC Ointment works by reducing inflammation and soothing the affected area, which may help reduce the size of the piles and the swelling of the blood vessels. While Uniroid Ointment can make the piles feel smaller and relieve symptoms, it doesn’t directly shrink them.
No, Uniroid-HC is an ointment. If you’re looking for a suppository haemorrhoid treatment, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you’ve used too much Uniroid HC Ointment, gently wipe off any extra with clean cotton wool or tissue.
If you’ve applied a lot or used it too often, talk to a doctor or pharmacist, as using too much can lead to side effects like thinning of the skin.
Always use this medicine as directed and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you’re unsure.
