Xyloproct Ointment is a topical medication used to alleviate the discomfort associated with haemorrhoids, also known as piles. It contains two active ingredients: Lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that numbs the affected area, and Hydrocortisone, a steroid that reduces inflammation.
Xyloproct Ointment is primarily used to treat haemorrhoids. It helps to relieve symptoms such as pain, itching, and swelling around the anus. This medication may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor or pharmacist.
Xyloproct Ointment works by combining the effects of its two active ingredients. Lidocaine numbs the area, providing immediate relief from pain and discomfort, while Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and swelling. Together, these ingredients help to alleviate the symptoms of haemorrhoids.
Xyloproct Ointment is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age who are suffering from haemorrhoids. However, it may not be suitable for people who are allergic to Lidocaine, Hydrocortisone, or any other ingredients in the ointment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist before using this medication.
You should apply Xyloproct Ointment twice a day, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Continue using the ointment until your symptoms have completely disappeared.
Like all medications, Xyloproct Ointment can cause side effects.
For a full list of side effects, please refer to the patient information leaflet.
