What Is Otovent Glue Ear Treatment Used For?

Otovent Glue Ear Treatment is used to help relieve ear pressure, hearing reduction and discomfort associated with glue ear by opening the Eustachian tubes and encouraging fluid to drain away from the middle ear naturally. It can also assist in equalising pressure during flying or diving.

Otovent is suitable for:

• Adults aged 18 and over
• Children aged 3 years and above when supervised by a responsible adult

Do not use Otovent if you:

• Have an active ear infection or acute upper respiratory illness
• Are allergic to latex (balloons are made of natural rubber latex)
• Have severe nasal obstruction or recent nasal/sinus surgery without medical approval

Consult a healthcare professional before use if you have a perforated eardrum or severe dizziness.

How to Use Otovent Glue Ear Treatment

1. Attach one balloon to the nose piece firmly.
2. Gently press the round nose piece against one nostril and close the other nostril with a finger.
3. Inhale deeply, close your mouth, and blow through your nose to inflate the balloon until it reaches about grapefruit size.
4. Swallow once and deflate the balloon naturally; repeat on the other side.
5. Use as instructed (usually 2–3 times daily initially).

Clean the nose piece with mild detergent and rinse after use. Discard balloons after about 20 inflations.

Possible Side Effects

Most people tolerate Otovent well, but some may experience:

• Temporary ear discomfort or pressure
• Mild headache
