You can find more information about GLP-1 medications on the Diabetes UK website.
Nutrition Guidance for GLP-1 Users
GLP-1 medications work by reducing your appetite, which can lead to significantly lower food intake. To maintain healthy weight loss and avoid nutritional deficiencies:
- Prioritise high-protein foods such as eggs, fish, poultry, tofu, and legumes
- Include healthy fats from sources like avocados, nuts, and olive oil
- Eat complex carbohydrates for sustained energy
- Consider taking a daily multivitamin if your food intake is reduced
- Drink at least 1.5 to 2 litres of water per day
- Avoid skipping meals or following extremely low-calorie diets
- Incorporate light strength training exercises to help preserve muscle mass
If you experience persistent nausea, are unable to eat, or feel persistently unwell, contact your GP for advice. Visit the NHS Eat Well guide for more nutrition information.
