These gastro-resistant capsules provide long-lasting relief from the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), such as the burning sensation of heartburn and acid regurgitation. Unlike antacids that offer temporary relief, esomeprazole works at the source to manage persistent symptoms.

What Is Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control Used For?

Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control is used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms, including heartburn and acid regurgitation. It targets the “proton pumps” in your stomach lining to inhibit acid production, helping to prevent the painful burning sensation in the chest and throat caused by excess stomach acid.

Who Is Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control Suitable For?

This medication is suitable for adults 18+ who experience frequent heartburn (twice a week or more).

Do not use Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control if you:

• Are allergic to esomeprazole or any listed ingredient
• Are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole, pantoprazole)
• Are taking medicines containing nelfinavir (used for HIV)
• Are under 18 years old

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Have severe liver or kidney problems
• Have ever had a skin reaction after treatment with a similar acid-reducer
• Are due to have a specific blood test (Chromogranin A)
• Have lost weight unintentionally, have persistent vomiting, or difficulty swallowing
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding

How to Use Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control

1. Take exactly one 20mg capsule daily.
2. The capsule should be swallowed whole; do not chew or crush it, as this damages the gastro-resistant coating.
3. You can take the capsule with food or on an empty stomach.
4. If you have trouble swallowing, you can open the capsule and stir the granules into a glass of non-carbonated water. Drink immediately.
5. Continue taking the medicine for at least 2-3 days to see the full effect.

Stop taking this medicine when your symptoms have completely gone. If symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks of continuous use, consult your doctor.

Possible Side Effects of Perrigo Heartburn & Acid Reflux Control

Common side effects:

• Headache
• Diarrhoea, stomach pain, constipation, or flatulence
• Nausea or vomiting
• Benign polyps in the stomach

Uncommon:

• Swelling of the feet and ankles
• Dizziness or sleepiness
• Dry mouth

Rare:

• Low sodium levels in the blood
• Agitation, confusion, or depression
• Taste changes or blurred vision

• Contains sucrose; consult your doctor if you have an intolerance to some sugars.
