Uniroid HC Suppositories contain a dual-action formula of hydrocortisone 5mg and cinchocaine hydrochloride 5mg. This medication is specifically designed to provide rapid relief from the symptoms of internal haemorrhoids (piles) and anal itching. The hydrocortisone acts as a corticosteroid to reduce inflammation and swelling, while cinchocaine serves as a local anaesthetic to numb pain and discomfort.

What Is Uniroid HC Suppositories Used For?

Uniroid HC Suppositories are used for the short-term medical treatment of internal haemorrhoids and inflammation of the rectum (proctitis). They effectively reduce the “heavy” feeling, swelling, and redness associated with piles, while providing a numbing effect to stop the sharp pain and itching often experienced during and after bowel movements.

Who Is Uniroid HC Suppositories Suitable For?

Uniroid HC is suitable for adults and adolescents 12+.

Do not use Uniroid HC Suppositories if you:

• Are allergic to hydrocortisone, cinchocaine, or other local anaesthetics
• Have a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection in the area being treated
• Have tuberculosis

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have a history of vision problems, such as glaucoma or cataracts
• Are taking other steroid medicines
• Experience persistent rectal bleeding

How to Use Uniroid HC Suppositories

1. Empty your bowels if possible, then wash and dry the anal area.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly and remove the foil wrapping from one suppository.
3. Lie on your side with one leg drawn up towards your chest.
4. Gently insert the suppository (pointed end first) as far as possible into the back passage.
5. Stay still for a few moments to ensure the suppository melts in place. Wash your hands again.

Do not use for more than 7 days unless directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects of Uniroid HC Suppositories

Common side effects:

• Temporary local irritation or burning sensation

Rare / Long-term use:

• Thinning of the skin or stretch marks
• Blurred vision (Central Serous Chorioretinopathy)
• Hypersensitivity reactions (rash or swelling)

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended frequency of use.
• Discontinue use and consult a doctor if you experience blurred vision.
• Long-term use can lead to the active ingredients being absorbed into the bloodstream, potentially affecting your adrenal glands.
• Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Storage Instructions

• Store in the original container below 25°C.
• Keep away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent melting.
• Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
