Azelastine & Fluticasone Nasal Spray is a combination prescription nasal spray used to treat moderate to severe seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. It contains azelastine hydrochloride (137 micrograms per spray), an antihistamine, and fluticasone propionate (50 micrograms per spray), a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation inside the nose.

This dual-action hay fever nasal spray helps relieve nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, and runny nose by targeting both the allergic response and inflammation. It is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.

What Is Azelastine & Fluticasone Nasal Spray Used For?

This combination antihistamine and corticosteroid nasal spray is used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including blocked nose, sneezing, nasal itching, and runny nose. It is particularly suitable when symptoms are not adequately controlled by a single antihistamine or steroid nasal spray alone.

Who Is Azelastine & Fluticasone Nasal Spray Suitable For?

Azelastine & Fluticasone Nasal Spray is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.

Do not use this medicine if you:

• Are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride, fluticasone propionate, or any of the listed ingredients
• Are under 12 years old

Speak to your doctor before use if you:

• Have recently had nasal surgery, injury, or ulcers in the nose
• Have a nasal infection
• Have tuberculosis or an untreated infection
• Have glaucoma or cataracts
• Are taking other steroid medicines
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding

How to Use Azelastine & Fluticasone Nasal Spray

1. Shake the bottle gently before each use.
2. Prime the spray before first use by spraying into the air until a fine mist appears.
3. Blow your nose gently.
4. Insert the nozzle into one nostril and aim slightly away from the nasal septum.
5. Spray once while breathing in gently.
6. Repeat in the other nostril.
7. Use one spray in each nostril twice daily (morning and evening).

Clean the nozzle regularly and replace the cap after use.

Possible Side Effects of Azelastine & Fluticasone Nasal Spray

Common side effects:

• Altered taste (including bitter taste)
• Nosebleeds
• Headache

Uncommon:

• Nasal discomfort, dryness, or irritation
• Throat irritation

Rare:

• Hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

Long-term use of corticosteroids may rarely affect adrenal function or increase the risk of eye problems such as glaucoma or cataracts.
