Belladonna Plaster is a medicated self‑adhesive plaster containing belladonna alkaloids (as hyoscamine 0.25% w/w), traditionally used to provide targeted relief from muscular aches and pains including backache, sciatica, rheumatism, stiffness, strain and tension. When applied directly to the skin, the active compounds increase localized blood flow and desensitise nerve endings, helping to ease pain and discomfort in the affected area.

Belladonna Plaster is available in two convenient sizes:

• Belladonna Plaster – Small 12.5 cm × 9.5 cm (2 pack)
• Belladonna Plaster – Large 28 cm × 17.5 cm (single plaster)

What Is Belladonna Plaster Used For?

Belladonna Plaster is used to offer topical relief from muscular pain and discomfort such as strain, lumbago, sciatic pain, stiff neck, aching shoulders and rheumatism. It works by stimulating local circulation and desensitising nerve endings at the site of pain for soothing, warming relief.

Who Can Use Belladonna Plaster?

Belladonna Plaster is suitable for adults and children aged 10 years and over.

Do not use Belladonna Plaster if you:

• Suffer from glaucoma
• Are allergic to belladonna alkaloids, adhesive plasters or any other listed ingredients
• Have inflamed, broken or damaged skin
• Are using other topical medications or antihistamines
• Want to use on the face or near sensitive areas

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Have sensitive skin or a history of skin reactions
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have persistent pain or an undiagnosed condition

How to Use Belladonna Plaster

1. Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly.
2. If needed, cut the plaster to a suitable size.
3. Remove the backing and apply plaster to the painful area.
4. Leave the plaster in place for 2–3 days unless otherwise directed by a pharmacist or doctor.
5. To replace, ensure the area is clean and apply a fresh plaster.

Always wash hands after application and avoid touching eyes or face during use.

Possible Side Effects of Belladonna Plaster

Common side effects:

• Skin irritation, redness or itching at the application site
• Local warmth or mild discomfort

Rare reactions:

• Severe rash or blistering
• Signs of an allergic reaction including swelling or difficulty breathing

If serious side effects occur, remove the plaster immediately and seek medical advice.

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not apply external heat (e.g. heating pads) over the plaster.
• Remove plaster if skin underneath becomes painful or irritated.
• Do not use on open wounds or broken skin.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Storage Instructions

• Store below 25 °C in original packaging.
• Keep away from direct heat and sunlight.
• Do not use after the expiry date on the pack.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
