Ferrous Fumarate Tablets are an effective iron supplement used to prevent and treat iron deficiency anaemia. Each tablet contains ferrous fumarate, a form of iron that is easily absorbed by the body to help restore healthy red blood cell levels and reduce symptoms of exhaustion. Iron is essential for the production of haemoglobin, which transports oxygen throughout the body.
Ferrous Fumarate is available in two strengths to suit different treatment requirements:
| Medication Name | Ferrous Fumarate Tablets |
| Active Ingredient | Ferrous Fumarate (210mg or 322mg) |
| Medication Form | Film-coated tablets |
| Used to Treat | Iron deficiency anaemia and iron prevention |
| Available Sizes | 210mg (84 pack) or 322mg (28 pack) |
| Who Can Use It | Adults and children (dosage varies by age and weight) |
| Prescription Required? | No – Pharmacy (P) medicine |
| Patient Information Leaflet | Ferrous Fumarate – 210mg Leaflet / 322mg Leaflet |
Ferrous Fumarate is primarily used to treat anaemia caused by a lack of iron in the diet, blood loss, or during pregnancy. By increasing iron levels, it helps the body produce more red blood cells, reversing symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, and pale skin. It is also used as a preventative measure for those at risk of becoming iron deficient.
Ferrous Fumarate is suitable for adults, the elderly, and children, provided the correct dosage is followed.
