About Tubifast Yellow Line Bandage

Tubifast Yellow Line Bandage is a lightweight, elasticated tubular bandage featuring 2-way stretch technology. It provides both radial and longitudinal stretch, allowing for complete freedom of movement while holding wound dressings securely in place. Designed for easy application, it requires no pins, tapes, or ties and is engineered to fit comfortably over difficult-to-bandage areas without causing constriction or compression.

What Is Tubifast Yellow Line Used For?

Tubifast Yellow Line is primarily used for dressing retention, ensuring that primary wound dressings stay in place without the irritation of adhesive tapes. It is also highly effective for “patch wrapping” (wet or dry wrapping) in the management of eczema, as a protective skin covering to prevent scratching, and as a comfortable stockinette under orthopedic casts.

Who Is Tubifast Yellow Line Suitable For?

The Yellow Line width (10.75cm) is specifically color-coded for larger anatomical areas. Do not use Tubifast Yellow Line if:

  • The patient has a known allergy to any of the materials (viscose, elastane, or polyamide).
  • The limb circumference is outside the 35cm – 64cm range (choose a different color line for smaller/larger areas).

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if:

  • The patient has poor arterial circulation.
  • There are signs of infection at the wound site.
  • You are using the bandage for “wet wrapping” therapy for the first time.

How to Use Tubifast Yellow Line Bandage

  1. Select the Yellow Line size for extra-large limbs, heads, or children’s trunks.
  2. Measure and cut the bandage to the desired length using clean scissors.
  3. Gently stretch the bandage and slide it over the dressing or affected area.
  4. Ensure the fabric is smooth and not bunched to prevent localized pressure.
  5. If using for a limb, ensure it extends well beyond the dressing on both sides.

The bandage is designed to be low-fray, but care should be taken to ensure no loose threads enter an open wound.

Possible Side Effects

While Tubifast is non-sensitising and non-irritating, potential issues may include:

  • Reduced circulation if applied too tightly or if the wrong size is used.
  • Skin irritation if the bandage becomes soiled and is not replaced.

If you notice numbness, tingling, or coldness in the limb, remove the bandage immediately.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Fire Safety: Keep away from naked flames. This is especially critical when used with paraffin-based emollients, which can soak into the fabric and increase fire risk.
  • Single Patient Use: To prevent cross-contamination, the bandage is intended for single-patient use.
  • Maintenance: If the bandage becomes soiled with bodily fluids, it should be discarded and replaced.

Storage Instructions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep out of reach of children to avoid the risk of strangulation.
  • Washable and reusable (hand wash recommended) unless soiled by wound exudate.
