Zeroderm Ointment contains liquid paraffin 40% w/w and white soft paraffin 30% w/w, which act as a rich emollient to relieve and hydrate dry skin. It is specially formulated to treat severe dry skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. Zeroderm Ointment creates a protective barrier over the skin, which traps moisture inside, reduces inflammation, and helps prevent further flare-ups.

What Is Zeroderm Ointment Used For?

Zeroderm Ointment is used to relieve symptoms of dry and sensitive skin, including redness, soreness, flaking, and itching. As a 3-in-1 emollient, it can be applied directly as a leave-on moisturiser, mixed into water as a soothing bath additive, or used as a non-drying soap substitute to cleanse the skin without stripping its natural oils.

Who Is Zeroderm Ointment Suitable For?

Zeroderm Ointment is suitable for adults, the elderly, and children of all ages (including babies).

Do not use Zeroderm Ointment if you:

• Are allergic to liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin, or any of the listed ingredients
• Have severely broken or weeping skin

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Are using other topical prescription skin treatments or steroid creams
• Notice that your skin condition worsens or shows signs of infection

How to Use Zeroderm Ointment

1. As a moisturiser: Apply the ointment gently to the dry skin, smoothing it in the direction of hair growth. Apply as frequently as necessary.
2. As a soap substitute: Take a small amount of the ointment and lather it under warm water. Use it to cleanse your skin just as you would with normal soap.
3. As a bath additive: Take about 4g (roughly a teaspoon) of the ointment and melt it in a small container of hot water. Pour the mixture into a running bath and bathe normally.
4. After washing or bathing, gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel to avoid rubbing away the protective barrier.

Note: When using Zeroderm in the bath or shower, take extra care as it can make surfaces highly slippery.

Possible Side Effects of Zeroderm Ointment

Common side effects:

• Mild skin reactions, such as redness or itching (especially if sensitive to the ingredients)

Rare:

• Allergic contact dermatitis

If you experience a severe allergic reaction or sudden worsening of your eczema, discontinue use immediately and speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings and Precautions

• For external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes.
• Fire Warning: This product contains a high concentration of paraffin, which is highly flammable. Keep away from naked flames, lit cigarettes, and other ignition sources. Fabrics (bedding, clothing, or dressings) that have been in contact with this ointment burn much more easily. Regular washing reduces buildup but does not completely remove the fire hazard.
• Stop using if persistent irritation occurs.

Storage Instructions

• Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C.
• Do not freeze.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not use past the expiry date printed on the packaging.
