What is Allevia used for?

Allevia tablets contain fexofenadine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine used for allergy relief.

They’re used by adults and adolescents aged 12 and older to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including hay fever.

Allergic rhinitis can be triggered by indoor and outdoor allergens, including pollen, dust mites and mould spore allergies.

Allevia hayfever tablets can help with:

  • Sneezing
  • Itchy nose
  • Blocked or runny nose
  • Itchy eyes
  • Red, watery eyes

How do Allevia tablets work?

Allevia allergy tablets contain fexofenadine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine.

When you come into contact with an allergen such as pollen, your body releases a chemical called histamine. This causes the typical hayfever symptoms like sneezing, itching, blocked nose and watery eyes.

Fexofenadine blocks histamine from binding to its receptors for effective relief of these symptoms. Allevia tablets start to relieve symptoms within 1 hour and last for 24 hours.

Who can use Allevia tablets?

Allevia tablets are suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. They’re not recommended for children under 12.

Don’t take Allevia if you’re allergic to fexofenadine or any of the other ingredients in the tablets.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Allevia if you:

  • Have problems with your liver or kidneys
  • Have or have ever had heart disease, as this type of medicine may lead to a fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Are elderly

Allevia shouldn’t be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor.

How to Take Allevia 120mg Tablets

The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years old is to take one tablet (120mg) before a meal with a glass of water.

Allevia starts to relieve symptoms within 1 hour and lasts for 24 hours.

Allevia 120mg Tablets Reviews

Allevia 120mg Tablets FAQs

It’s used to relieve hay fever and seasonal allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes.

Allevia is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, meaning it’s less likely to cause sleepiness than some older types of antihistamine. That said, drowsiness and tiredness can still occur in some people, so it’s worth checking how the tablets affect you before driving or operating machinery.

Allevia tablets begin easing hayfever symptoms within one hour of taking them, and the relief lasts for a full 24 hours. This means one tablet a day is usually enough to keep symptoms under control, without needing to take additional doses later in the day.

Avoid taking it within 2 hours of antacids containing aluminium or magnesium. Always check with your pharmacist before combining medicines.

You can buy Allevia 120mg Tablets online from Click2Pharmacy after a short pharmacist consultation, with fast and discreet UK delivery.

Allevia is licensed for adolescents aged 12 years and over, but it isn’t recommended for children younger than this. If your child is under 12 and needs help managing hayfever symptoms, speak to a pharmacist about a suitable alternative.

Allevia isn’t suitable if you’re allergic to fexofenadine or any of the other ingredients in the tablets. People with liver or kidney problems, heart disease or those who are elderly should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment. It’s also not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding unless a doctor has advised it, or for children under 12.
