What Is Anbesol Teething Gel Used For?

Anbesol Teething Gel is primarily used to relieve the localized pain and inflammation associated with a baby’s teething when non-medicinal methods (like teething rings) have not worked. It is also highly effective for adults suffering from recurrent mouth ulcers or sore spots caused by new or ill-fitting dentures.

Who Is Anbesol Teething Gel Suitable For?

This gel is suitable for infants aged 5 months and over, children, and adults. Do not use Anbesol Teething Gel if:

• The patient is under 5 months of age.
• The patient is allergic to lidocaine, chlorocresol, cetylpyridinium chloride, or any other ingredients.
• The patient has a history of sensitivity to local anaesthetics.

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Are using other products containing lidocaine.
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Notice the child’s symptoms worsen or persist for more than 7 days.

How to Use Anbesol Teething Gel

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application.
2. For babies, apply a pea-sized blob of gel onto a clean fingertip.
3. Gently spread the gel onto the affected area of the gum or mouth.
4. If the child vomits or spits the gel out, do not reapply immediately; wait 3 hours before the next dose.
5. Do not use for more than 7 days for any single teething episode.

Possible Side Effects of Anbesol Teething Gel

While rare, some side effects may occur:

• Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions (rash, swelling).
• Dermatitis or skin irritation due to chlorocresol.

If you notice any unusual symptoms or the child seems unwell after application, stop use and consult a doctor immediately.
