Buscopan Cramps Tablets contain hyoscine butylbromide 10 mg, an antispasmodic medicine used to relieve painful stomach, bowel, or bladder cramps. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the digestive tract and urinary system to ease spasms, bloating, and discomfort.

Buscopan Cramps can also be used to relieve abdominal pain linked to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)</strong) when diagnosed by a doctor. It provides rapid, targeted relief and is suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.

What Are Buscopan Cramps Tablets Used For?

Buscopan Cramps Tablets are used to relieve painful abdominal, bowel, or bladder spasms. They also provide relief from stomach pain linked to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) by easing muscle tightening in the digestive tract.

Who Are Buscopan Cramps Suitable For?

Suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.

Do not take Buscopan Cramps if you:

• Are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or any ingredients
• Cannot digest certain sugars (contains sucrose)
• Have glaucoma
• Have myasthenia gravis
• Have bowel obstruction, paralytic ileus, or megacolon
• Are pregnant, likely to become pregnant, or breastfeeding

Seek medical advice before use if you:

• Are aged 40 or over with new/worsening symptoms
• Have severe constipation, fever, nausea, or blood in stools
• Have unexplained weight loss or tiredness
• Have difficulty passing urine
• Have recently travelled abroad

How to Take Buscopan Cramps

1. Swallow tablets whole with water – do not chew.
2. For stomach/bowel/bladder cramps (adults & 12+): 2 tablets up to 4 times daily.
3. For IBS (adults & 12+): Start with 1 tablet 3 times daily; increase if needed. Maximum is 2 tablets 4 times daily.
4. Children 6–12: 1 tablet 3 times daily.
5. Do not take continuously for more than 2 weeks without pharmacist or doctor review.

Possible Side Effects of Buscopan Cramps

Like all medicines, side effects may occur.

Uncommon (up to 1 in 100 people):

• Dry mouth
• Reduced or increased sweating
• Skin rash or itching (urticaria, pruritus)
• Increased heart rate (tachycardia)

Rare:

• Difficulty emptying the bladder

Very rare / isolated reports:

• Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
• Breathing difficulty
• Painful red eye with vision loss (possible acute glaucoma)

Seek immediate medical help if any severe symptoms occur.

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• May cause blurred vision – avoid driving if affected.
• Contains sucrose – unsuitable for those with hereditary sugar intolerance.
• Stop and seek urgent help if you develop unexplained abdominal pain with fever, vomiting, or blood in stools.

Storage Instructions

• Store below 25 °C in original packaging.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not use after expiry date printed on the pack.

Other ingredients: Calcium hydrogen phosphate, maize starch, sucrose, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide, acacia, waxes, povidone, macrogol.

Important Information
