Calpol Original Infant Suspension is a pink, strawberry flavoured liquid medicine designed to provide effective pain and fever relief for babies and children. Formulated with paracetamol 120mg per 5ml, it is a trusted solution for reducing high temperatures and soothing discomfort from common childhood ailments.

This “Original” formula is suitable for infants and children aged 2 months to 6 years and comes in a 200ml bottle. It includes a double-ended measuring spoon (2.5ml and 5ml) to help ensure your child receives the exact dose required.

What Is Calpol Original Infant Suspension Used For?

Calpol Original effectively relieves mild to moderate pain and reduces fever (antipyretic). It is commonly used for teething pain, toothache, sore throats, and headaches. It also helps manage high temperatures associated with colds, flu, and post-immunisation fever in infants as young as 2 months.

Who Is Calpol Original Infant Suspension Suitable For?

This medicine is suitable for children aged 2 months to 6 years.

Do not give Calpol Original to your child if they:

• Are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients listed.
• Are already taking other medicines containing paracetamol.
• Weigh less than 4kg or were born before 37 weeks (for the 2-3 month age group).

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if the child:

• Has serious kidney or liver problems.
• Has an inherited intolerance to fructose or an intolerance to certain sugars.
• Has Diabetes Mellitus (due to the 2.2g of sucrose per 5ml).

Ingredients

Other ingredients: Sucrose, sorbitol liquid (E420), glycerol, polysorbate 80, acesulfame potassium, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), dispersible cellulose, xanthan gum, purified water, strawberry flavour, and Carmoisine (E122).

How to Use Calpol Original Infant Suspension

1. Shake the bottle thoroughly for 10 seconds before every use.
2. Open the child-resistant cap by pushing down and turning anti-clockwise.
3. Use the provided double-ended spoon to measure the exact 2.5ml or 5ml dose.
4. Administer the dose slowly into the child’s mouth.
5. Clean the bottle neck and replace the cap securely.

Do not give more medicine than the label states. If the child does not improve within 3 days, consult a doctor.

Possible Side Effects of Calpol Original Infant Suspension

Side effects are rare, but may include:

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing).
• Unexplained bruising or bleeding.
• Becoming unusually tired or getting more infections than usual.

Stop use immediately and seek medical help if an allergic reaction occurs.
