What is Cryotag Skin Tag Remover used for?

Cryotag Skin Tag Remover is a home-use cryotherapy device for treating unsightly skin tags quickly.

Skin tags are small, soft, flesh-coloured growths of skin that often form where skin rubs against itself or clothing, most commonly on the neck, chest, back, underarms and groin. They’re harmless, but many people choose to have them removed because they catch on jewellery or clothing, or simply for cosmetic reasons. Cryotag makes it possible to treat skin tags at home, without needing an appointment with your doctor.

How does Cryotag Skin Tag Remover work?

Cryotag uses freezing technology to target and destroy the tissue within a skin tag. Each canister contains a mixture of dimethyl ether, isobutane and propane, which rapidly cools the tip of the applicator to a very low temperature. This is the same technology used by doctors and dermatologists to treat certain skin lesions.

When the cold applicator tip is held against the stalk of a skin tag, it freezes the tissue almost instantly. This damages the cells within the skin tag and cuts off its blood supply, causing it to die. Over the following days, the treated skin tag typically changes colour and dries out before falling off within 2 weeks of a single application.

Who can use Cryotag Skin Tag Remover?

Cryotag is designed to treat skin tags only. To be suitable for treatment, a skin tag needs to:

• Be located on the neck, chest, back, underarms or groin
• Be a similar colour to the surrounding skin
• Feel soft and flexible, often hanging from a narrow stalk
• Measure between 2mm and 6mm

If a growth doesn’t meet all of these characteristics, or if you’re unsure whether it’s a skin tag, see your doctor before treating it. Cryotag isn’t suitable for moles, warts, birthmarks or any other type of skin growth.

Don’t use Cryotag if you:

• Are under 18 years old
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have or have ever had any type of skin cancer
• Have or have had a skin lesion diagnosed as pre-cancerous, wherever it’s located on your body
• Have diabetes, have poor blood circulation, a blood condition affected by extreme cold, a weakened immune system or a bleeding problem
• Have irritated or infected skin, with signs like redness, itching or swelling
• Have a growth that isn’t a true skin tag, including moles, birthmarks or other unusual-looking skin conditions

Cryotag also can’t be used on skin tags found on the eyes, eyelids, face, lips, inside the mouth, nose, anus, genitals or buttocks. If you have skin tags in these areas, speak to your doctor about alternative treatment options.

How to Use Cryotag Skin Tag Remover

Cryotag is designed for removing skin tags at home, using the 12 single-use precision-tip applicators supplied in the pack. Follow these steps for each skin tag you’re treating:

1. Attach one precision-tip applicator by firmly twisting it into the opening on the underside of the cap.
2. Stand the canister upright on a table or other sturdy surface, then insert the applicator and cap into the canister’s shield. Press the cap down firmly for 3 seconds. You’ll hear a hissing sound as the applicator fills with freezing spray.
3. Remove the applicator and cap from the shield and hold it with the tip facing downwards for 15 seconds, allowing it to reach the correct temperature.
4. Use the tweezers provided to gently grasp the skin tag and pull it away from your skin, then press the applicator tip against the stalk of the skin tag continuously for 40 seconds.

You can treat more than one skin tag at a time if they’re in different areas, but only treat one skin tag per location at once. Some skin tags may require additional treatments. You can treat the skin tag up to 4 times, leaving a 2-week interval between each treatment.

Side Effects of Cryotag Skin Tag Remover

Like most treatments that work on the skin, Cryotag can cause some side effects, though not everyone experiences them.

• Stinging, aching or itching at the treatment site during or shortly after use, which usually fades quickly
• Blistering within a few days of treatment. Avoid puncturing a blister and keep the area clean to reduce the risk of infection
• Temporary changes in skin colour. Darker skin may lighten, and lighter skin may redden or darken, though this usually fades with time

If you notice signs of infection, such as increasing redness, swelling, warmth or pus, contact your doctor.

Each canister contains a mixture of dimethyl ether, isobutane and propane. These work together to rapidly cool the applicator tip, allowing it to freeze away skin tags during treatment.

Each pack includes:

• One 80ml canister of freezing spray
• 12 single-use precision-tip applicators
• Disposable tweezers
• An instructions leaflet

Warnings and Precautions

• The canister is extremely flammable. Keep it away from naked flames, sparks and other sources of ignition and don’t smoke while using it
• Store below 50°C, away from direct sunlight and out of the sight and reach of children
• Use in a well-ventilated room and avoid breathing in the spray
• Avoid contact with your eyes. If it gets into your eyes, rinse with water for 15 minutes and seek medical help immediately
• Don’t swallow the contents of the canister. If this happens accidentally, seek medical help right away
• Only use the applicators supplied with the product, and use a new applicator for each skin tag
• Don’t apply Cryotag to broken, irritated or infected skin
