Femodette is a combined oral contraceptive pill that contains two female hormones: ethinylestradiol 20 micrograms (oestrogen) and gestodene 75 micrograms (progestogen). It is used to prevent pregnancy when taken correctly.
Femodette works by stopping the ovaries from releasing an egg, thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering the womb, and thinning the lining of the uterus to reduce the chance of implantation.
Femodette is a 21-day pill, meaning one tablet is taken daily for 21 days followed by a 7-day pill-free break.
