About Lamisil AT 1% Gel

Lamisil AT 1% Gel contains terbinafine hydrochloride, a powerful antifungal agent used to treat skin infections caused by fungi. Unlike creams, this gel formula provides a cooling sensation upon application and is quickly absorbed into the skin. It is specifically designed to target the fungi that cause athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) and dhobie itch (jock itch/tinea cruris), clearing the infection and relieving uncomfortable symptoms like soreness and scaling.

What Is Lamisil AT 1% Gel Used For?

Lamisil AT 1% Gel is used to treat fungal infections including athlete’s foot (usually found between the toes) and jock itch (found in the groin or skin folds). The active ingredient, terbinafine, works by killing the fungus responsible for the infection, providing relief from itching, redness, and painful cracking.

Who Is Lamisil AT 1% Gel Suitable For?

Lamisil AT Gel is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 16 and over.

Do not use Lamisil AT 1% Gel if you:

  • Are allergic to terbinafine or any other ingredients in the gel
  • Are under 16 years of age

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding (do not use unless recommended by a doctor)
  • Are using any other skin medications on the affected area

How to Use Lamisil AT 1% Gel

  1. Wash your hands before and after use.
  2. Cleanse and thoroughly dry the infected skin and the area around it.
  3. Unscrew the cap and use the point in the cap to pierce the tube seal.
  4. Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected skin and a small area of the surrounding healthy skin.
  5. Rub in gently and replace the cap.

If the infection is in a skin fold (under breasts, between buttocks or toes), you may cover the area with gauze, especially at night. Use the gel for the full 7 days even if symptoms disappear early.

Possible Side Effects of Lamisil AT 1% Gel

Most people use Lamisil AT Gel without issues, but some may experience:

  • Skin peeling or itching at the application site

Common side effects:

  • Skin lesions, scabbing, or skin colour changes
  • Redness or burning sensation

Rarely, an allergic reaction may occur. Stop use and seek medical help if you experience swelling, rash, or hives.

Warnings and Precautions

  • For external use only; do not swallow.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
  • The gel contains ethanol (alcohol); keep away from open flames.
  • Contains butylated hydroxytoluene, which may cause local skin reactions or irritation to eyes/mucous membranes.

Storage Instructions

  • Keep the tube closed and store in its original carton.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiry date shown on the tube.
