MolluDab Solution is a topical potassium hydroxide treatment for molluscum contagiosum. It contains 5% w/w potassium hydroxide, which works by breaking down the surface of the affected skin to help the body’s immune system recognise and clear the viral lesions.

MolluDab is supplied in a 2ml precision applicator bottle, allowing targeted application directly onto individual molluscum spots. It is designed for use in adults and children (as stated in the patient information leaflet) and is applied directly to the lesions until mild inflammation appears, indicating the treatment is working.

What Is MolluDab Solution Used For?

MolluDab is used for the treatment of molluscum contagiosum in adults and children. Molluscum contagiosum is a common viral skin infection that causes small, raised, dome-shaped spots, often with a central dimple. The solution works by gently irritating the lesion so the body can naturally eliminate the virus.

Who Is MolluDab Suitable For?

MolluDab is suitable for adults and children with molluscum contagiosum.

Do not use MolluDab if you:

• Are allergic to potassium hydroxide or any of the ingredients
• Have broken, infected, or inflamed skin around the lesions
• Are treating spots on the face, eyes, lips, genital or anal areas (unless advised by a healthcare professional)

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if:

• The diagnosis is uncertain
• The lesions are widespread or located in sensitive areas
• The patient has eczema around the affected area

How to Use MolluDab Solution

1. Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application.
2. Using the applicator, apply a small amount directly onto each molluscum lesion only.
3. Allow the solution to dry.
4. Apply twice daily (morning and evening).
5. Stop treating each lesion once redness or mild inflammation appears.

Avoid contact with healthy skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Wash hands after use. Treatment duration varies, but lesions usually resolve after inflammation develops.

Possible Side Effects of MolluDab

Common side effects include:

• Mild stinging or burning at the application site
• Redness and local irritation
• Temporary skin discolouration

These reactions are expected and indicate the treatment is working. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, blistering, or signs of infection occur.
