About Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray

Pirinase Hayfever 0.05% Nasal Spray contains fluticasone propionate, a corticosteroid medicine that helps control inflammation and swelling in the nasal passages caused by allergies.

It provides 24-hour relief from hay fever and airborne allergies such as pet dander, house dust mites, and mould spores.
Pirinase effectively relieves common allergy symptoms, including sneezing, itchy or runny nose, nasal congestion, and itchy or watery eyes.

With regular daily use, it helps prevent allergic reactions and keeps symptoms under control throughout the allergy season.

How to Use Spray two puffs into each nostril once daily. When symptoms improve, reduce to one puff per nostril daily. Do not exceed four sprays per nostril per day.

What is Pirinase Nasal Spray Used For?

Pirinase is used to treat and prevent hay fever and allergic rhinitis caused by pollen, dust, or pet allergens. It helps relieve sneezing, itchy or blocked nose, and watery eyes, providing all-day protection when used regularly.

Who is Pirinase Suitable For?

Pirinase is suitable for adults aged 18 years and above.

Do not use Pirinase if you:

  • Are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any of the ingredients listed
  • Are under 18 years of age

Speak to your pharmacist or doctor before using if you:

  • Have a nasal or sinus infection
  • Have recently had nasal surgery or injury
  • Experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances
  • Are using other corticosteroid medicines (inhalers, tablets, creams)
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

How to Use Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray

  1. Shake the bottle well and remove the dust cap.
  2. Blow your nose gently to clear the nostrils.
  3. Insert the nozzle into one nostril while closing the other and tilt your head slightly forward.
  4. Breathe in gently through your nose and press the pump to release one spray.
  5. Repeat in the other nostril.
  6. Wipe the nozzle clean after each use and replace the dust cap.

For new bottles or if unused for several days, press the pump several times until a fine mist appears.
Do not use for more than 3 months continuously without consulting your doctor.

Possible Side Effects of Pirinase Nasal Spray

Like all medicines, Pirinase may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.

Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people):

  • Nosebleeds

Common (up to 1 in 10 people):

  • Headache
  • Unpleasant taste or smell
  • Dryness or irritation in the nose or throat

Uncommon (up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Nose soreness or mild bleeding

Very rare (up to 1 in 10,000 people):

  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
  • Eye problems such as pain or blurred vision

If you experience persistent bleeding, nasal pain, or signs of an allergic reaction, stop using the spray and contact your doctor.

Warnings and Precautions

  • For nasal use only – do not swallow or inhale deeply.
  • Use the lowest effective dose to control your symptoms.
  • Do not use for more than 3 months continuously without medical advice.
  • Seek advice if you develop vision problems or persistent nasal irritation.
  • Contains benzalkonium chloride, which may cause nasal irritation or swelling if used long-term.

Storage Instructions

  • Store below 30°C and out of direct sunlight.
  • Use within 3 months of opening.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: Fluticasone propionate 50 micrograms per spray.
Other ingredients: Dextrose (anhydrous), microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethylcellulose sodium, phenylethyl alcohol, benzalkonium chloride, polysorbate 80, purified water, and dilute hydrochloric acid.
