About Piroxicam Gel

Piroxicam Gel contains piroxicam 0.5% w/w, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) designed for topical use. It is applied directly to the skin to help relieve pain, swelling, and inflammation affecting muscles and joints. Piroxicam Gel works at the site of pain by reducing inflammation without the need for oral painkillers.

Piroxicam Gel is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over and is used for short-term relief of musculoskeletal pain.

What Is Piroxicam Gel Used For?

Piroxicam Gel is used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, sports injuries, back pain, and mild arthritis affecting joints close to the skin surface.

Who Is Piroxicam Gel Suitable For?

Piroxicam Gel is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.

Do not use Piroxicam Gel if you:

  • Are allergic to piroxicam, aspirin, or other NSAIDs
  • Have previously had allergic skin reactions to pain relief gels
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare professional
  • Have broken, infected, or inflamed skin at the application site

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Have asthma triggered by NSAIDs
  • Have kidney, heart, or stomach problems
  • Are using other NSAID medicines

How to Use Piroxicam Gel

  1. Ensure the affected area is clean and dry.
  2. Apply a small amount of gel to the painful area.
  3. Gently massage until absorbed.
  4. Wash hands after application.

Do not apply more than recommended or use for longer than advised. Avoid covering with airtight dressings.

Possible Side Effects of Piroxicam Gel

Common side effects:

  • Mild skin irritation, redness, or itching at the application site

Rare side effects:

  • Allergic skin reactions such as rash or blistering
