About Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray

Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% w/v, a fast‑acting nasal decongestant that helps relieve a blocked or stuffy nose and sinus congestion caused by colds, influenza, hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies. It works by narrowing the blood vessels inside the nose to reduce swelling and open nasal passages for easier breathing.

Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over and is available in a metered solution:

What Is Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray Used For?

Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray is used to temporarily relieve nasal and sinus congestion associated with colds, flu, hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies. It quickly shrinks swollen nasal tissues and helps clear blocked nasal passages, making breathing easier.

Who Is Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray Suitable For?

This nasal spray is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over.

Do not use this medicine if you:

  • Are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients
  • Have taken or are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) within the last 2 weeks
  • Have had recent neurosurgery or pituitary gland removal
  • Are under 12 years old

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have:

  • High blood pressure or heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Overactive thyroid gland
  • Long QT syndrome or other serious cardiac conditions
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

How to Use Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray

  1. Remove the plastic cap and, if first time, press the plunger until a single spray is delivered.
  2. Hold the bottle upright and place the nozzle just inside one nostril.
  3. Press the plunger and breathe in gently through the nose while spraying.
  4. Repeat in the other nostril.
  5. Wipe the nozzle and replace the cap after use.

Use only as often as needed and do not exceed one spray per nostril 2–3 times daily. Do not use for more than 7 days in a row.

Possible Side Effects of Sudafed Blocked Nose Nasal Spray

Common and occasional side effects include:

  • Burning, soreness, dryness, stinging, itching or sneezing in the nose
  • Nosebleeds
  • Nausea or headache (rare)

If continuous use occurs for long periods, nasal congestion may return or worsen (rebound congestion), so only use as directed.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not exceed the stated dose of one spray per nostril 2‑3 times a day.
  • Do not use continuously for more than 7 days.
  • This medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, which may cause irritation or swelling inside the nose, especially with prolonged use.
  • Stop and speak to a doctor if symptoms worsen or persist.

Storage Instructions

  • Store in a dry place below 25 °C.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
  • Do not dispose of via wastewater or household waste.
