About Utrogestan 100mg Capsules

Utrogestan 100mg Capsules contain progesterone 100mg, a naturally occurring female hormone. They are used as part of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) alongside estrogen to help manage menopause symptoms in women who still have a womb. Progesterone helps protect the womb lining from overgrowth caused by estrogen and reduces the risk of complications.

Utrogestan is not a contraceptive and is suitable only for postmenopausal women under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Each capsule is soft, white, and designed to be taken orally at bedtime.

Who Is Utrogestan Suitable For?

Utrogestan is suitable for postmenopausal women who still have a womb and are using estrogen HRT.

Do not use Utrogestan if you:

  • Are allergic to progesterone, soya, peanut, or any ingredients in the capsule
  • Have or are suspected of having breast cancer or estrogen-sensitive cancer
  • Have unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • Have untreated endometrial hyperplasia
  • Have or have had a blood clot (DVT/PE) or a clotting disorder

  • Have high blood pressure, diabetes, gallstones, or migraines
  • Have asthma, epilepsy, or lupus (SLE)
  • Have liver problems or kidney issues
  • Are overweight or have a clotting risk

How to Take Utrogestan 100mg Capsules

  1. Take the capsules at bedtime to reduce dizziness or drowsiness.
  2. Swallow whole with water — do not chew or open the capsule.
  3. Avoid taking with food, as this increases absorption.
  4. Follow your doctor’s HRT schedule (cyclical or continuous).

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s close to your next dose. Do not double up.
