About Estradot Patches

Estradot Patches contain estradiol (as hemihydrate), a form of oestrogen used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT). They work by steadily releasing oestrogen through the skin to relieve menopause symptoms caused by low hormone levels.

Estradot Patches are available in multiple strengths to match your treatment needs:

  • Estradot 25 micrograms/24 hours
  • Estradot 37.5 micrograms/24 hours
  • Estradot 50 micrograms/24 hours
  • Estradot 75 micrograms/24 hours
  • Estradot 100 micrograms/24 hours

What Are Estradot Patches Used For?

Estradot is used to relieve symptoms caused by low oestrogen after menopause, including hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. Some strengths may also help prevent bone loss in postmenopausal women at risk of osteoporosis.

Who Is Estradot Suitable For?

Estradot is suitable for postmenopausal women who need oestrogen replacement therapy.

Do not use Estradot if you:

  • Are allergic to estradiol or any ingredients in the patch
  • Have or previously had breast cancer, endometrial cancer, blood clots, stroke, or unexplained vaginal bleeding

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Have high blood pressure, liver disease, migraines, asthma, or gallbladder problems
  • Have fibroids, endometriosis, or a family history of hormone-related cancers
  • Smoke or have cardiovascular risk factors

How to Use Estradot Patches

1. Application Schedule

  • Replace your patch twice weekly (every 3 to 4 days).
  • Always change it on the same two days (e.g., Monday and Thursday).
  • Wear the patch continuously until it is time for a new one.

2. Where to Apply

  • Apply to the lower abdomen, below the waistline.
  • DO NOT apply to the breasts or near them.
  • Rotate sites: Do not use the same area twice in one week.

3. How to Apply

  1. Ensure skin is clean, dry, cool, and free of oils or lotions.
  2. Tear the pouch open by hand; do not use scissors.
  3. Peel off half the backing. Press the sticky side to the skin.
  4. Peel off the remaining backing and smooth the patch down.
  5. Press firmly with your palm for 10 seconds.

4. Removal & Disposal

  • Peel off the old patch and fold it in half with the sticky side inwards.
  • Dispose of it safely out of reach of children; do not flush.
  • Rub off any remaining adhesive from your skin.

Possible Side Effects of Estradot

Common:

  • Breast tenderness
  • Headache
  • Skin redness or irritation at patch site
  • Nausea or bloating
  • Vaginal spotting (in first months)

Less common:

  • Mood changes
  • Fluid retention

Serious (seek medical help):

  • Blood clot symptoms
  • Chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Sudden severe headache

Warnings and Precautions

  • Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time.
  • If you still have a uterus, you may need a progestogen to protect the womb lining.
  • Have regular check-ups, including breast screening.

Storage Instructions

  • Store in the original packaging.
  • Keep away from heat or direct sunlight.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
