About Zelleta Contraceptive Pill

Zelleta Contraceptive Pill contains desogestrel 75 micrograms, a progestogen-only hormone used to prevent pregnancy. It is also known as the mini pill and does not contain oestrogen, making it suitable for women who cannot take combined oral contraceptives.

Zelleta works by thickening the cervical mucus to stop sperm reaching the womb and, in most cases, preventing the release of an egg (ovulation). It provides reliable contraceptive protection when taken correctly every day at the same time.

Zelleta Contraceptive Pill is suitable for women who are breast-feeding and those who are sensitive to oestrogen.

What Is Zelleta Contraceptive Pill Used For?

Zelleta is used for long-term contraception to help prevent pregnancy. It provides highly effective birth control when taken consistently and correctly every day.

Who Is Zelleta Suitable For?

Zelleta may be suitable for women who:

• Cannot take oestrogen-containing contraceptives
• Are breast-feeding
• Require reliable daily oral contraception

Do not take Zelleta if you:

• Are allergic to desogestrel or any of the ingredients
• Have or have had blood clots (thrombosis)
• Have severe liver disease
• Have unexplained vaginal bleeding
• Have or may have hormone-sensitive cancer (such as certain types of breast cancer)

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Have had breast cancer
• Have liver problems
• Have diabetes, epilepsy, tuberculosis or high blood pressure
• Have chloasma (skin pigmentation patches)
• Experience low mood or depression

How to Take Zelleta Contraceptive Pill

1. Take one tablet daily at the same time each day.
2. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
3. Follow the arrows and day markings on the blister pack.
4. Start a new pack the day after finishing the previous one, without a break.

If You Miss a Tablet

• If less than 12 hours late: Take the missed tablet as soon as remembered and continue as normal.
• If more than 12 hours late: Take the tablet as soon as remembered and use additional contraception (e.g. condoms) for the next 7 days.

If you vomit within 3–4 hours of taking a tablet or have severe diarrhoea, follow the missed tablet advice.

Possible Side Effects of Zelleta

Common side effects:

• Irregular bleeding or no bleeding
• Headache
• Mood changes or depressed mood
• Acne
• Breast tenderness
• Weight gain

Uncommon:

• Vaginal infections
• Vomiting
• Hair loss
• Painful periods
• Ovarian cysts
• Tiredness

Rare:

• Skin rash, hives, erythema nodosum

Seek urgent medical help if you experience swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or symptoms of a blood clot.

Warnings and Precautions

• Does not protect against HIV or sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
• May cause irregular bleeding patterns.
• Use additional contraception if taking enzyme-inducing medicines.
• Contains lactose.

Storage Instructions

• No special storage conditions required.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date.
