About Cytisine Tablets

Cytisine 1.5mg tablets are a plant-based, nicotine-free medication designed to help you stop smoking. The active ingredient, cytisinicline, works by mimicking the effects of nicotine on the brain’s receptors. This action “tricks” the brain into feeling satisfied, significantly reducing the urge to smoke and easing the discomfort of nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

A single pack contains 100 tablets, providing a complete 25-day treatment course. Cytisine is an effective alternative for those who want to quit smoking without using nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) like patches or gum.

What Is Cytisine Used For?

Cytisine is used for smoking cessation and the reduction of nicotine cravings. It is intended for smokers who are motivated to quit permanently. By relieving physical withdrawal symptoms—such as irritability, anxiety, and hunger—it helps break the cycle of nicotine dependence over a 25-day period.

Who Are Cytisine Tablets Suitable For?

Cytisine is suitable for adults aged 18 to 65 who have a serious intention to quit smoking.

Do not use Cytisine if you:

  • Are allergic to cytisinicline or any of the ingredients (e.g., mannitol, magnesium stearate)
  • Have unstable angina or have recently had a heart attack or stroke
  • Suffer from clinically significant heart arrhythmias
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Have heart disease, heart failure, or high blood pressure
  • Have a history of gastric ulcers or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Have kidney or liver impairment
  • Have hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) or diabetes
  • Have a history of psychiatric disorders (e.g., depression or schizophrenia)

Ingredients

Other ingredients: Mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, glycerol dibehenate, and hypromellose.

How to Take Cytisine Tablets

  1. Follow the specific 25-day dosing schedule provided in the pack.
  2. Start the course while you are still smoking, but gradually reduce your intake.
  3. You must stop smoking entirely no later than the 5th day of treatment.
  4. Swallow each tablet whole with a glass of water.
  5. If you fail to quit during the course, stop treatment and wait 2 to 3 months before trying again.

Do not continue to smoke while taking Cytisine, as this increases the risk of side effects from nicotine.
