About Champix Tablets

Champix Tablets contain the active ingredient varenicline. This medication is a prescription-only, non-nicotine treatment used to help adults stop smoking. The 1mg tablets are typically used as the “Maintenance Pack” after you have completed the initial first week of the lower-dose starter pack. Champix works by reducing your cravings and easing withdrawal symptoms, while simultaneously blocking nicotine receptors in the brain so that smoking a cigarette is no longer pleasurable.

Champix 1mg Tablets are suitable for adults aged 18 years and over who are committed to quitting smoking and have successfully completed the initial starter phase.

  • Champix 1mg Maintenance Pack – 28 tablets (2-week supply)

What Are Champix 1mg Tablets Used For?

Champix 1mg is used for the ongoing maintenance phase of your smoking cessation journey. Once your body has adjusted to the medication during the first week, the 1mg dose provides the optimal strength to significantly reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. It continues to block nicotine from binding to receptors in your brain, ensuring that any lapse in your quit attempt will not result in the rewarding feeling normally caused by smoking.

Who Are Champix 1mg Tablets Suitable For?

Champix is suitable for adults 18+ who are actively following a smoking cessation plan.

Do not use Champix 1mg Tablets if you:

  • Are allergic to varenicline or any listed ingredient
  • Are under 18 years of age
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Have a history of psychiatric illness, including depression
  • Have a history of seizures (epilepsy)
  • Suffer from decreased kidney function
  • Have cardiovascular disease

How to Use Champix Tablets

The 1mg dose is typically started on Day 8 of your quit journey, after you have completed the initial 0.5mg starter phase.

  1. Take one light blue 1 mg tablet twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening).
  2. Try to take the tablets at the same time each day to maintain a steady level of the medicine in your body.
  3. Always swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water.
  4. Take the tablets after eating a meal to help minimise the chance of nausea.

A standard full course of treatment lasts for 12 weeks in total. If you have successfully stopped smoking by the end of week 12, your doctor may recommend an additional 12-week course of 1 mg tablets to help secure your long-term success.
