About TriRegol Contraceptive Pill

TriRegol is a triphasic combined oral contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. It contains two active ingredients: ethinylestradiol (an oestrogen) and levonorgestrel (a progestogen). Unlike monophasic pills, TriRegol provides three different dose levels of these hormones across the 21-day cycle, designed to mimic the natural hormonal fluctuations of a woman’s body. When taken correctly, TriRegol is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. It is commonly prescribed to women who require reliable contraception and may also help with regulating periods, reducing heavy bleeding, and alleviating menstrual cramps. TriRegol is available in the following pack sizes:

  • TriRegol – 21 tablets (1 month supply)
  • TriRegol – 63 tablets (3 month supply)

Used to Treat Pregnancy prevention (Contraception)

What Is TriRegol Contraceptive Pill Used For?

TriRegol contraceptive pill is primarily used as a hormonal contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. It works through three distinct actions:

  1. Inhibiting Ovulation: It prevents the ovaries from releasing an egg each month.
  2. Thickening Mucus: It increases the thickness of the cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach an egg.
  3. Altering the Uterine Lining: It thins the lining of the womb, making it less likely for a fertilised egg to implant.

Who Is TriRegol Contraceptive Pill Suitable For?

TriRegol contraceptive pill is suitable for most healthy women of childbearing age. However, it is not suitable for everyone. Do not use TriRegol if you:

  • Are allergic to ethinylestradiol, levonorgestrel, or any other ingredients
  • Have (or have ever had) a blood clot in the legs, lungs, or other organs
  • Have a history of heart attack, stroke, or angina
  • Suffer from migraines with aura
  • Have severe liver disease or liver tumours
  • Have or suspect you have breast or genital organ cancer
  • Have unexplained vaginal bleeding

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Smoke (especially if over 35)
  • Have diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol
  • Have Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
  • Have a history of depression
  • Are breastfeeding

How to Take TriRegol

  1. Start on day 1 of your period for immediate protection.
  2. Follow the direction of the arrows on the blister strip.
  3. Swallow one tablet whole with water at the same time each day.
  4. Complete the 21 tablets in the pack, then wait 7 days before starting the next strip.

If you are more than 12 hours late taking a pill, your protection against pregnancy may be reduced. Consult the leaflet for “Missed Pill” instructions.
