About Antibiotic Skin Infection Treatment

Antibiotic Skin Infection Treatment contains 500mg of a beta-lactamase-resistant penicillin per capsule, an antibiotic used to clear bacterial skin infections. It is designed to treat conditions like impetigo, cellulitis, abscesses, boils, erythrasma, and infected wounds or abrasions. It works by targeting bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, inhibiting their growth and killing the infection.

What Is Antibiotic Skin Infection Treatment Used For?

Antibiotic Skin Infection Treatment is used to cure a variety of bacterial skin and soft tissue infections. By interfering with the bacteria’s ability to build cell walls, it effectively kills the bacteria responsible for conditions like impetigo, boils, and cellulitis, helping the skin to heal.

Who Is Antibiotic Skin Infection Treatment Suitable For?

This generic treatment is suitable for adults 18+.

Do not use this treatment if you:

  • Are allergic to penicillins, cephalosporins, or any listed ingredient
  • Have previously had liver problems or jaundice associated with taking penicillin antibiotics
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding (unless explicitly advised by a doctor)

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Have liver or kidney problems
  • Are over 50 years of age
  • Have any other serious medical conditions
  • Are taking other medications, particularly probenecid or oral typhoid vaccines

How to Use Antibiotic Skin Infection Treatment

  1. Take the capsules exactly as directed by your prescribing clinician (usually one capsule four times daily).
  2. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.
  3. Take the medication on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after eating).
  4. Space out your doses evenly throughout the day.
  5. Complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if your symptoms disappear, to prevent the infection from returning.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s nearly time for your next one. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten one.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Minor stomach upset or diarrhoea

Uncommon or Rare:

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling of the face/throat, breathing difficulties)
  • Liver problems (yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine)
  • Severe watery or bloody diarrhoea
  • Joint or muscle pain

Stop taking the medication immediately and seek emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction or liver problems.
