What Are Kwells Kids Tablets Used For?

Kwells Kids Travel Sickness Tablets are used to prevent or relieve the symptoms of motion sickness, such as nausea, dizziness, and vomiting. These symptoms occur when the brain receives mixed messages from the eyes and inner ear during movement.

Each tablet contains 150 micrograms of hyoscine hydrobromide, which acts on the balance centres in the inner ear and the nerves that cause nausea. Because they dissolve quickly in the mouth, they’re absorbed into the bloodstream rapidly and offer relief within 20 to 30 minutes.

Who are Kwells Kids Suitable For?

Kwells Kids Travel Sickness Tablets are suitable for children aged 4 years and above who experience motion sickness. They should not be used in children under 4 years of age.

Do not give Kwells Kids to your child if they:

  • Are allergic to hyoscine hydrobromide or any of the tablet ingredients
  • Have glaucoma
  • Have a blockage of the intestines (paralytic ileus)
  • Have a narrowed stomach outlet (pyloric stenosis)
  • Have myasthenia gravis or an enlarged prostate

Speak to your GP or pharmacist first if your child has:

  • Epilepsy or seizure disorders
  • Down’s syndrome
  • Heart, kidney, liver, or metabolic conditions
  • Ulcerative colitis, diarrhoea, or fever

Kwells Kids may interact with medicines like antidepressants, antihistamines, or certain anti-nausea or antiviral drugs. Always check with your pharmacist before combining treatments.

How to Take Kwells Kids Travel Sickness Tablets

Kwells Kids Tablets can be sucked, chewed or swallowed, and split in half if needed. They can be taken up to 30 minutes before travel or at the onset of symptoms, but do not exceed 3 doses in 24 hours.

Dosage Guidelines

  • Children aged 4–10: Give ½ to 1 tablet every 6 hours, as required
  • Children aged 10 and over: Give 1 to 2 tablets every 6 hours, as required

Always follow the instructions on the packaging or those given by your doctor or pharmacist.

Alongside taking Kwells Kids, try the following to help prevent or reduce travel sickness symptoms in children:

  • Encourage your child to sit facing forward and look out the window
  • Keep the vehicle well ventilated
  • Avoid greasy food before travel – light meals are best
  • Take regular breaks for fresh air and movement
  • Avoid reading or screen time during travel
  • Steer clear of strong smells like perfume, food or petrol fumes

Side Effects

Some children may experience:

  • Drowsiness or dizziness
  • Dry mouth or blurred vision
  • Restlessness or confusion (less common)
  • Raised body temperature due to reduced sweating
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, wheezing, or swelling)

If your child experiences any of the above or shows unusual behaviour, stop the medication and seek medical advice immediately.
