LMX4 Dispensing Kit contains lidocaine 4% w/w, a topical local anaesthetic used to temporarily numb the surface of the skin. It is specifically designed to reduce pain and discomfort associated with needle procedures, such as blood tests, immunisations, and minor dermatological treatments. By blocking pain signals at the nerve endings, LMX4 ensures a more comfortable experience for both adults and children. The LMX4 Dispensing Kit is a comprehensive solution providing both the numbing agent and the necessary protective covers for clinical or home use. Each kit contains:

• 12 x 5g tubes of LMX4 Lidocaine 4% Cream
• 24 x Waterproof adhesive dressings

What Is the LMX4 Dispensing Kit Used For?

LMX4 is used to provide rapid local anaesthesia to intact skin. It is most commonly used to prevent pain from “needle sticks” during vaccinations, IV insertions, or blood sampling. It is also suitable for numbing the skin before minor surgical procedures or aesthetic treatments such as laser hair removal or tattooing on small areas.

Who Is LMX4 Suitable For?

LMX4 is suitable for adults, the elderly, and children aged 1 month and over. Do not use LMX4 Dispensing Kit if you:

• Are allergic to lidocaine or any other amide-type local anaesthetics
• Are allergic to any of the inactive ingredients (e.g., benzyl alcohol)
• Have broken, inflamed, or infected skin

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Are acutely ill, debilitated, or elderly
• Have severe liver disease
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are taking medications for heart rhythm (e.g., amiodarone)

Ingredients

Other ingredients: Benzyl alcohol, carbomers, cholesterol, hydrogenated soy lecithin, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, trolamine, vitamin E acetate, purified water.

How to Use LMX4 Cream and Dressings

1. Ensure the skin is clean and dry. Do not use alcohol or acetone as they can interfere with the cream.
2. Squeeze the required amount of cream (approx. 1g–2.5g) onto the skin site.
3. Do not rub the cream in. It must be applied in a thick layer.
4. Peel the backing from the waterproof dressing and place it over the cream. Seal the edges firmly to prevent leaking.
5. Leave for at least 30 minutes. Once removed, the numbing effect lasts for approximately 60–90 minutes.

Do not apply to large areas of the body without medical supervision.

Possible Side Effects of LMX4

Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

• Temporary skin redness or paleness (blanching)
• Mild swelling or itching at the application site
• A slight burning sensation upon application

Rare side effects:

• Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
• Small red spots (petechiae) at the site, particularly in children

If you experience any shortness of breath or widespread rash, remove the cream immediately and seek medical attention.

Warnings and Precautions

• For external use only. Do not swallow.
• Avoid contact with eyes, ears, nose, or mouth.
• Do not apply to open wounds, rashes, or eczema.
• Do not leave on the skin for longer than the recommended time based on age.

Storage Instructions

• Store below 25°C.
• Do not freeze or refrigerate.
