Moviprep Sachets are a lemon-flavoured osmotic laxative designed to thoroughly cleanse the intestinal tract before clinical procedures such as a colonoscopy, barium enema, or radiology. By drawing water into the bowel, these sachets trigger watery bowel movements that flush out the intestines, ensuring a clear view for medical professionals.

Moviprep is suitable for adults aged 18 years and over and consists of a specific 4-sachet treatment:

• Sachet A (Large): Contains Macrogol and essential salts.
• Sachet B (Small): Contains Ascorbic acid and Sodium ascorbate.

What Is Moviprep Used For?

Moviprep Sachets are used to empty the bowels of all solid matter and liquid before diagnostic tests. A clean bowel is vital for doctors to accurately identify any abnormalities. The formula uses Macrogol 3350 to retain water in the stool, providing a rapid and effective cleansing action.

Who Is Moviprep Suitable For?

Moviprep is suitable for adults 18+.

Do not use Moviprep Sachets if you:

• Are allergic to Macrogol 3350 or any other ingredient
• Have a perforation or blockage in the gut
• Have gastric retention or stomach emptying issues
• Suffer from phenylketonuria (contains aspartame)
• Have G6PD deficiency
• Have toxic megacolon

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Have heart or kidney problems
• Have difficulty swallowing or severe reflux
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are on a low-potassium or low-sodium diet

How to Use Moviprep Sachets

1. Dissolve Sachet A and Sachet B together in 1 litre of water and stir until clear.
2. Drink the first litre over 1–2 hours (one glass every 10–15 minutes).
3. Drink an additional 500ml of clear fluid (water, clear soup, fruit juice without pulp).
4. Repeat the process with the second set of sachets as per your clinical instructions.

Stay near a toilet as soon as you start drinking the mixture, as the laxative effect will begin quickly.

Possible Side Effects of Moviprep

Common side effects:

• Abdominal pain, bloating, or flatulence
• Nausea or vomiting
• Anal irritation
• Sleep disturbances or dizziness

Stop use immediately if you experience severe allergic reactions, such as swelling or breathing difficulties.

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not eat solid food from the start of the treatment until after your procedure.
• Take oral medications at least one hour before or after Moviprep to ensure absorption.
• Avoid using Moviprep for longer than recommended by your doctor.
• If you use the contraceptive pill, use extra precautions as the laxative effect may reduce its effectiveness.

Storage Instructions

• Store sachets in a dry place below 25°C.
• The prepared solution can be kept in the fridge (2°C – 8°C).
• Discard any solution not used within 24 hours.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
