What Is Slynd Used For?

Slynd is a daily birth control pill used to prevent pregnancy. It works by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching an egg, and altering the lining of the uterus. Because it is estrogen-free, it is an excellent choice for women who cannot take combined hormonal pills due to health risks or personal preference.

Who Is Slynd Suitable For?

Slynd is suitable for most women of childbearing age, including those who are breastfeeding or smokers over the age of 35.

Do not use Slynd if you:

• Are allergic to drospirenone or any ingredients in the tablet
• Have an active blood clot in a vein or lung
• Have severe liver disease or kidney failure
• Have or are suspected of having a hormone-dependent cancer (e.g., breast cancer)
• Experience unexplained vaginal bleeding

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Have a history of high blood pressure or heart problems
• Have diabetes
• Have ever had chloasma (skin pigmentation patches)
• Are taking medication for epilepsy, HIV, or tuberculosis

How to Use Slynd

1. Take one tablet at the same time every day to maintain a 24-hour interval between doses.
2. Follow the arrows on the blister pack, starting with the white active tablets.
3. Swallow the tablet whole with water, regardless of food intake.
4. After taking all 24 white tablets, take the 4 green placebo tablets for the final days of the cycle.
5. Begin your next pack immediately the day after finishing the last green tablet.

If you are more than 24 hours late taking a white tablet, consult the leaflet regarding backup contraception.

Possible Side Effects of Slynd

Common side effects:

• Irregular bleeding or spotting
• Nausea or headache
• Acne or breast tenderness
• Changes in mood or weight gain

Uncommon:

• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Increased potassium levels in the blood

Rare side effects can include blood clots. Seek medical help if you experience sudden leg swelling, chest pain, or difficulty breathing.

Warnings and Precautions

• Slynd does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections.
• Avoid grapefruit juice while using this medication as it may increase hormone levels.
• If you vomit within 4 hours of taking an active tablet, take another one immediately.
