Dovobet Gel & Ointment is a prescription-only topical treatment used for the management of plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris) in adults. It contains a combination of two active ingredients: calcipotriol, a vitamin D analogue that helps regulate excessive skin cell growth, and betamethasone, a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching.

Dovobet is suitable for use on the scalp and on non-scalp areas of the body affected by mild to moderate plaque psoriasis. The gel formulation is particularly suitable for hairy areas such as the scalp, while the ointment is often preferred for thicker plaques on the body.

Dovobet is for adult use only (18 years and over) and must be used exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

What Is Dovobet Used For?

Dovobet is used for the topical treatment of scalp psoriasis and mild to moderate plaque psoriasis on other areas of the body in adults. It helps slow excessive skin cell production while reducing inflammation, scaling, and redness.

Who Is Dovobet Suitable For?

Dovobet is suitable for adults aged 18 years and over.

Do not use Dovobet if you:

• Are allergic to calcipotriol, betamethasone, or any other ingredients
• Have calcium metabolism disorders
• Have erythrodermic, exfoliative, or pustular psoriasis
• Have untreated skin infections, ulcers, or broken skin

How to Use Dovobet Gel & Ointment

1. Apply a thin layer to affected psoriasis areas only.
2. Use once daily, preferably in the evening.
3. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
4. Do not cover treated areas with dressings or bandages.

The usual treatment duration is:

• Scalp psoriasis: up to 4 weeks
• Body psoriasis: up to 8 weeks

Do not exceed 15 grams per day or use on more than 30% of the body surface.

Possible Side Effects of Dovobet

Common side effects:

• Itching

Uncommon:

• Skin irritation or burning sensation
• Rash, redness, or folliculitis

Rare or serious side effects may include:

• Worsening of psoriasis
• Skin thinning with prolonged use
• Increased calcium levels in blood
• Blurred vision

Warnings and Precautions

• Avoid use on the face, genitals, or skin folds
• Avoid excessive sun exposure or UV therapy
• Do not use under occlusive dressings
• Do not smoke or expose treated fabrics to flames (fire hazard)

Storage Instructions

• Do not refrigerate
• Store in original packaging away from light
• Discard 6 months after first opening
• Keep out of reach of children
