Clarithromycin tablets are a prescription only antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections including bacterial tonsillitis, throat infections, sinus infections, chest infections, and certain skin infections. For tonsillitis, it is prescribed for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over when symptoms are caused by bacteria rather than viruses.
