Uses for Benadryl Benacort Nasal Spray

Benacort Nasal Spray is used to treat allergic rhinitis symptoms, including hay fever. It helps relieve:

  • Sneezing
  • Blocked or stuffy nose
  • Runny nose
  • Itchy nose
  • Nasal irritation

The spray works by reducing inflammation inside your nose, which helps prevent these symptoms from developing when you’re exposed to allergens like pollen, dust mites, or pet dander.

How Does Benacort Nasal Spray Work?

Benacort Nasal Spray contains budesonide, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in your nasal passages. When you breathe in allergens, your immune system releases chemicals that cause swelling and irritate your nose. Budesonide works by calming this immune response, reducing the inflammation that leads to congestion, sneezing, and other allergy symptoms.

Regular use helps prevent symptoms from developing in the first place, making it particularly effective when used consistently during allergy season.

Who Can Use Benacort Nasal Spray?

Benacort Nasal Spray is suitable for adults aged 18 and over who need relief from hay fever and nasal allergy symptoms.

Do not use Benacort Nasal Spray if you:

  • Are allergic to budesonide or any of the ingredients
  • Are under 18 years old

You should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using it if you:

  • Have an infection in your nose or sinuses
  • Have had recent nose surgery, ulcers, or an injury that hasn’t healed
  • Experience heavy or frequent nosebleeds
  • Have tuberculosis (TB), a chest infection, chickenpox, or measles, or have been in contact with someone who has these conditions
  • Have glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or cataracts
  • Have an eye infection
  • Have diabetes
  • Have liver problems
  • Are using other corticosteroid medicines (including eczema creams, asthma inhalers, tablets, injections, or other nasal sprays)
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant

If any of these apply to you, get advice before using Benacort Nasal Spray.

How to Use Benacort Steroid Nasal Spray

Before first use: Shake the bottle, remove the cap, and pump the nozzle 5-10 times into the air until you see an even mist. If more than 24 hours passes between doses, re-prime with one spray.

  1. Blow your nose gently, shake the bottle, and remove the cap
  2. Insert the nozzle into your nostril, pointing it slightly towards the side (away from the middle of your nose)
  3. Spray the required dose without breathing in at the same time
  4. Repeat in the other nostril
  5. Wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap

Use Benacort regularly for the full effect. You may not notice improvement for the first few days. If your symptoms aren’t controlled after 14 days, speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use continuously for longer than 3 months.

Benacort Nasal Spray Reviews

Benacort (Budesonide) Nasal Spray FAQs

Yes, budesonide is a corticosteroid. Benacort Nasal Spray contains budesonide, a medication that belongs to a class of medications called corticosteroids. These work by reducing inflammation in your nasal passages to relieve allergy symptoms. Unlike steroid tablets, nasal sprays like Benacort work locally in your nose, which means they’re less likely to cause the side effects associated with oral steroids.

Benacort Nasal Spray doesn’t provide instant relief. You may not notice any improvement for the first few days of treatment, as it takes time for the anti-inflammatory effects to build up. The full benefit usually develops after a few days of regular use. For best results, start using Benacort before you’re exposed to allergens – for example, before pollen season begins if you have hay fever.

Benacort Nasal Spray is designed for daily use during allergy season. Regular daily use is actually more effective than using it only when symptoms appear, as it helps prevent symptoms from developing in the first place. However, you should not use it continuously for longer than 3 months without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
