About Millinette Contraceptive Pill

Millinette Contraceptive Pill is a combined oral contraceptive that contains ethinylestradiol 20 micrograms and gestodene 75 micrograms. It is designed to provide reliable, reversible protection against pregnancy when taken correctly. Millinette works by stopping ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to block sperm, and changing the womb lining to prevent implantation.

Millinette does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

What Is Millinette Contraceptive Pill Used For?

Millinette Contraceptive Pill is used to prevent pregnancy. It works by stopping the release of an egg each month, thickening cervical mucus to reduce sperm movement, and thinning the lining of the womb to lower the chance of implantation.

Who Is Millinette Contraceptive Pill Suitable For?

Millinette is suitable for women who require a combined oral contraceptive after their first menstrual period.

Do not use Millinette if you:

  • Have had blood clots in the legs, lungs, or other organs
  • Have clotting disorders (e.g. protein C or S deficiency, Factor V Leiden)
  • Have had a heart attack, stroke, angina, or TIA
  • Have migraine with aura
  • Have severe liver disease or liver tumours
  • Have hormone-sensitive cancers (e.g. breast or reproductive cancers)
  • Have unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • Are taking certain hepatitis C medicines (such as ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir, dasabuvir, glecaprevir/pibrentasvir, or sofosbuvir/velpatasvir/voxilaprevir)

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Are overweight (BMI over 30)
  • Smoke or are over 35 years old
  • Have high blood pressure, diabetes, migraines, or high cholesterol
  • Have Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, SLE, or sickle cell disease
  • Have recently given birth or are planning surgery
  • Have a history of depression or mood changes

How to Use Millinette Contraceptive Pill

  1. Start the first tablet on day one of your period.
  2. Take one tablet at the same time each day.
  3. Continue for 21 consecutive days.
  4. Take a 7-day break with no tablets.
  5. Start the next pack after 7 days, even if bleeding has not stopped.

If you are more than 12 hours late taking a pill, use additional contraception (such as condoms) for the next 7 days.

Possible Side Effects of Millinette Contraceptive Pill

Common side effects:

  • Headache
  • Irregular bleeding or spotting
  • Nausea
  • Breast tenderness or breast pain
  • Mood changes, including low mood

Uncommon side effects:

  • Migraine
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Increased blood pressure

Rare but serious side effects:

  • Blood clots in the legs or lungs
  • Heart attack or stroke
  • Liver problems

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if you have a high risk of blood clots.
  • Smoking increases the risk of serious side effects, especially if over 35.
  • Contact a doctor urgently if you develop symptoms of a blood clot.
  • Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

Storage Instructions

  • Store below 25°C.
  • Keep in the original packaging to protect from light and moisture.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
