About Brolene Eye Drops

Brolene Eye Drops are used to treat minor infections of the eye or eyelid, such as conjunctivitis. They contain propamidine isetionate 0.1%, an antimicrobial agent that helps stop the growth of bacteria responsible for the infection.

Brolene works by reducing bacteria in the eye, helping to relieve symptoms such as redness, soreness, sticky discharge, and irritation.

What are Brolene Eye Drops Used For?

Brolene Eye Drops are used to treat minor infections of the eye or eyelid, such as conjunctivitis. They help reduce redness, soreness, watering, and discharge by stopping bacterial growth.

Who are Brolene Eye Drops Suitable For?

Brolene Eye Drops are suitable for adults and children.

Do not use Brolene if you:

  • Are allergic to propamidine or any of the ingredients
  • Wear contact lenses (you must not wear them during treatment)
  • Have severe eye pain or changes in vision — seek medical advice instead

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using Brolene if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to Use Brolene Eye Drops

  1. Wash your hands before use.
  2. Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid.
  3. Apply 1–2 drops into the affected eye.
  4. Use up to 4 times a day or as directed.
  5. Continue using the drops for 48 hours after symptoms improve.
  6. Avoid touching the eye with the dropper tip.

If symptoms do not improve within 2 days, or worsen, seek medical advice.

Possible Side Effects of Brolene Eye Drops

Like all medicines, Brolene can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.

  • Stinging or burning sensation in the eye
  • Increased redness or itching around the eye
  • Skin rash or irritation around the eyelids

Stop using the drops and speak to a doctor if these occur.

Warnings and Precautions

  • For eye use only — do not swallow.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during treatment.
  • Avoid using other eye medicines at the same time unless advised by a doctor.
  • Seek medical help if symptoms do not improve within 48 hours.

  • Use within 28 days of first opening.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
