How does Evana work?

Evana contains tranexamic acid, which helps your blood clot more effectively. During your period, your body naturally breaks down blood clots. Tranexamic acid slows down this process, which means less blood is lost during menstruation.

The medication doesn’t stop your period or change your cycle – it simply reduces menstrual blood loss. Most women notice a significant reduction in blood loss within 2-3 hours of taking the first dose, helping to manage disruptive periods.

Who can use Evana Tablets?

Evana is suitable for women over 18 who experience heavy menstrual bleeding.

Do not use Evana if you:

  • Have or have had a blood clot (e.g in your leg, lung, or eye)
  • Have a history of stroke
  • Have bleeding in the brain or around the brain
  • Have a blood clotting problem (unless already under treatment)
  • Have severe kidney disease
  • Are allergic to tranexamic acid or any other ingredients in the tablets

Before taking Evana, speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you:

  • Have kidney problems
  • Have blood in your urine
  • Have irregular periods
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are taking oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy
  • Have a family history of blood clots

How to Take Evana Heavy Period Relief Tablets

  1. Take 2 tablets three times a day (morning, afternoon, and evening)
  2. Swallow the tablets whole with water
  3. Continue for up to 4 days or until heavy bleeding stops

You can take Evana with or without food. Start taking the tablets when your period begins, and don’t take them for more than 4 days during each period.

Important: Do not exceed 6 tablets (3000mg) in 24 hours.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Evana Heavy Period Tablets FAQs

You can buy Evana tablets over the counter from Click2Pharmacy’s online heavy period clinic. After placing your order, you’ll need to complete a free online consultation. Our pharmacists will review your consultation to make sure Evana is safe and appropriate for you before dispensing.

No, you shouldn’t take Evana and Ultravana together. Both medications contain tranexamic acid and are used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding. Taking them together would mean you’re taking a double dose, which increases the risk of side effects, particularly blood clots. If you’re unsure which medication is right for you, speak to your pharmacist.

Evana is suitable for women aged 18 or older. If you’re under 18 and experiencing heavy periods, speak to your GP for advice on suitable treatments.

No, Evana will not stop your period altogether. It works by reducing the amount of blood loss during menstruation, typically by up to 60%. Your period will still happen as normal, but you should notice significantly lighter bleeding. If you’re looking to stop your period entirely, speak to your doctor about other treatment options.
