Evana contains tranexamic acid, which helps your blood clot more effectively. During your period, your body naturally breaks down blood clots. Tranexamic acid slows down this process, which means less blood is lost during menstruation.
The medication doesn’t stop your period or change your cycle – it simply reduces menstrual blood loss. Most women notice a significant reduction in blood loss within 2-3 hours of taking the first dose, helping to manage disruptive periods.
Evana is suitable for women over 18 who experience heavy menstrual bleeding.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

No, you shouldn’t take Evana and Ultravana together. Both medications contain tranexamic acid and are used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding. Taking them together would mean you’re taking a double dose, which increases the risk of side effects, particularly blood clots. If you’re unsure which medication is right for you, speak to your pharmacist.
Evana is suitable for women aged 18 or older. If you’re under 18 and experiencing heavy periods, speak to your GP for advice on suitable treatments.
No, Evana will not stop your period altogether. It works by reducing the amount of blood loss during menstruation, typically by up to 60%. Your period will still happen as normal, but you should notice significantly lighter bleeding. If you’re looking to stop your period entirely, speak to your doctor about other treatment options.
