What Is Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops Used For?

Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops are used to provide symptomatic relief from nasal congestion associated with the common cold, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), and sinusitis. It helps to drain the sinuses and clear the nose quickly to restore normal breathing.

Who Is Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops Suitable For?

Otrivine is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12+.

Do not use Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops if you:

• Are allergic to xylometazoline or any other listed ingredients
• Have had recent neurosurgery (trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy)
• Have narrow-angle glaucoma
• Have chronic nasal inflammation with very dry passages (rhinitis sicca)

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Have high blood pressure or heart disease
• Have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or diabetes
• Have an enlarged prostate gland
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are taking antidepressants (MAOIs or tricyclics)

How to Use Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops

1. Blow your nose gently to clear the nostrils.
2. Tilt your head back as far as is comfortable (or lie on a bed).
3. Place 2 or 3 drops into each nostril without touching the dropper to the nose.
4. Keep your head tilted back for a short time to allow the drops to spread.
5. Clean and dry the dropper before replacing the cap.

To prevent the spread of infection, each pack should be used by one person only.

Possible Side Effects of Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops

Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

• Nasal dryness or irritation
• Nausea
• Headache
• Burning sensation at the application site

Very rare side effects:

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching)
• Blurred vision (temporary)
