The SHARPSGUARD Yellow 1 Litre Sharps Bin is a compact, secure container designed for the safe disposal of medical sharps like needles, syringes, lancets, and injection pens. It’s perfect for people who give themselves injections at home, whether that’s insulin for diabetes or weight loss treatments like Saxenda, Wegovy, or Mounjaro.
This yellow sharps bin meets all UK safety standards and gives you peace of mind when throwing away used needles safely and hygienically.
Sharps disposal boxes should be used by:
During Use: Discard of your used needles, lancets, and syringes immediately after each injection. Never recap needles or try to remove them from syringes by hand. Simply drop the entire used item straight into the waste bin through the opening.
When Full: Stop using the box once it reaches the clearly marked fill line – don’t try to squeeze in extra items. Press the lid down firmly until you hear it click shut. Once sealed, the bin cannot be reopened.
Final Disposal: Take your sealed sharps box to any participating pharmacy for free disposal, or contact your local council about clinical waste collection services. Never put sharps bins in your household rubbish or recycling.
Safety Reminder: Keep out of reach of children and pets, and store it in a stable location that won’t tip over.

Most pharmacies in the UK will accept your sealed sharps bin for free disposal. This is one of the easiest ways to safely get rid of your used sharps container. Just make sure it’s properly sealed and not overfilled before you take it in.
Yellow sharps bins are used to remove sharps contaminated with medicines.
Other coloured bins are used for different types of clinical waste disposal:
Sharps boxes are designed for single use only. Once you’ve sealed the lid, it cannot be reopened. This is an important safety feature that prevents accidental needle-stick injuries and contamination. When your bin is full, you’ll need to get a new one.
You should get rid of your sharps waste when it reaches the fill line – don’t wait until it’s completely full. For most people using daily injections, a 1-litre bin typically lasts several weeks to a few months. Never try to squeeze extra items in once you’ve reached the fill line.
Used needles are dangerous and can cause serious injuries to waste collectors, cleaners, and anyone handling household rubbish. They can also spread infections. Sharps bins are designed to safely contain needles and ensure they’re disposed of through proper medical waste channels that protect everyone involved.
