About Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets

Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets are an oral rehydration therapy designed to replace essential water and body salts lost during diarrhoea. By restoring the body’s natural electrolyte balance, these sachets help prevent and treat dehydration effectively. Each sachet is easy to prepare, creating a palatable blackcurrant-flavoured drink when dissolved in water.

Dioralyte is suitable for adults, children, and infants (when used under medical guidance) and is available in a pack size of 20 sachets.

What Is Dioralyte Blackcurrant Used For?

Dioralyte Blackcurrant is used to combat dehydration by replacing fluids and essential body salts lost during bouts of diarrhoea. It helps restore the body’s hydration levels, which is crucial for recovery during illness.

Who Is Dioralyte Suitable For?

Dioralyte is suitable for adults and children.

Do not use Dioralyte if you:

  • Are allergic to glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, disodium hydrogen citrate, or any other ingredients
  • Have a fully or partially blocked bowel (intestinal obstruction)

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Have liver or kidney disease
  • Have diabetes
  • Are on a low-potassium or low-sodium diet
  • Have chronic or persistent diarrhoea
  • The child is under 2 years old

How to Use Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets

  1. Empty the contents of one sachet into a glass.
  2. Add exactly 200ml (7 fl oz) of fresh drinking water.
  3. Stir well until the powder fully dissolves.
  4. Drink the solution immediately; discard any remaining drink after 1 hour (or 24 hours if stored in a refrigerator).

Do not dissolve the powder in anything other than water, and do not use more or less than 200ml, as this may affect the balance of salts in the solution.

Possible Side Effects of Dioralyte

While Dioralyte is generally well-tolerated and side effects are uncommon, stop taking the medication and seek medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, swallowing/breathing difficulties, or swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Consult a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 24-48 hours.
  • This medicine contains glucose; talk to your doctor if you have a known sugar intolerance.
  • Each sachet contains approximately 300mg of sodium.
  • If you are being sick, consume the solution in small, frequent sips.

Storage Instructions

  • Store in the original package below 25°C to protect from moisture.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiry date stated on the carton and sachet.
